Apocynaceae

Soeur Agnes White Oleander

Nerium oleander 'Soeur Agnes'

Soeur Agnes or Sister Agnes is a free flowering Oleander that produces large clusters of 1", lightly fragrant, white blossoms for much of the summer and is intermediate in growth habit. Oleanders are an excellent choice for coastal regions with excellent drought and salt tolerance. Use them as windbreaks, as a screen, or as part of a shrub border and they can even be trained into tree standards. Sister Agnes is not as cold hardy as some oleander cultivars and is likely best suited for zones 9 and warmer.

With few major pests and diseases and their adaptability to soil conditions few shrubs are more reliable than Oleanders when you have a hot area in full sun. Whether its baking on the edge of concrete or the salty soils of the Gulf Coast these plants are nearly perfectly adapted for use in these areas. Oleanders make good container plants and can be trained into tree standards.
