Yarai Pseudata Iris
Iris x 'Yarai'
The pastel yellow falls are heavily overlaid with dark burgundy veining and starkly contrasting deep yellow signals accented by the wine colored standards. The flowers appear to be pastel orange from a distance. The Pseudata Iris is hybrid of the Japanese Iris, Iris ensata, and the Yellow Flag Iris, Iris pseudocorus, combining the vigor, adaptability, and yellow pigmentation of the Yellow Flag with the elegance and refinement of the Japanese Irises. The multi-award winning Yarai Pseudata Iris has a high bud count and is one of the earliest to begin flowering and it flowers over a long period compared to other beardless Irises. Flowering stalks growing to about 24-30" high. Yarai translates to Night Thunder which seems fitting for this cultivar. These Irises will do best in a moist to average moist, fertile soil rich in organic matter and will benefit from an organic mulch. Images courtesy of Walter's Gardens, Inc., all rights reserved.
