Large clusters of deep burgundy berries whorl around the arching stems of this Mexican Beautyberry and last through much of winter or until the birds find them sweet enough to enjoy. In all other regards Callicarpa acuminata very much resembles our native American Beautyberry, Callicarpa americana, though it may be slightly shorter in habit. Not just another yellow Lantana, Chapel Hill Yellow is a superior selection that has the habit of New Gold but with the cold hardiness of Miss Huff. It produces clusters of primrose yellow flowers from spring to frost on a low and spreading plant and like all Lantana the flowers attract loads of butterflies and other pollinators. This rare and magnificent member of the Witchhazel family, Hamamelidiceae, is a close kin to the more widely grown Persian Ironwood, Parrotia persica, but offers better cold hardiness, improved heat tolerance, brilliant red long-lasting fall color, better wind resistance, excellent disease and pest resistance, and it tends to be faster growing. The Chinese Ironwood, Parrotia subaequalis, develops into a multi-trunked, naturally vase-shaped to rounded, deciduous large shrub to small tree growing to 15-30' high. The beautiful exfoliating bark in shades of green, tan, and white and on mature trunks add another season of interest while the clusters of small Witchhazel-like red winter to early spring flowers are hardly noticeable. The fall color of the Chinese Ironwood starts out maroon and deepens to an intense glowing red that lasts for weeks whether grown in sun or shade. It is considered to be drought resistant but should be provided with average moisture until well-established. Item# 12265

A vigorous tropical vine which produces huge clusters of soft pink wax-like blooms in summer. Interestingly enough this is considered to be the first Hoya species to be described. An excellent choice for hanging baskets where it can hang and climb as it is wont to do. Item# 9309.

Deep red to bronze foliage on a bromeliad that multiplies readily creating a dense beautiful basket of medium-sized cascading plants. The Fire Ball Bromeliad, a type of Neoregelia, makes an easy low maintenance tropical-looking hanging basket plant or grow it as an epiphyte on wood or cork. The Fodingzhu Sweet Olive produces larger and showier clusters of sweetly fragrant white flowers over an exceptionally long period beginning in late summer and early fall and continuing well into spring. This is a pest and disease free, low-maintenance, long-lived large evergreen shrub to small tree with a naturally upright habit to rounded habit with a moderately fast rate of growth. Use the Sweet Olive as a specimen plant, as a backdrop for winter flowering Camellias, and as a large screen. A thornless Crown of Thorns that produces a Non-Stop show of bright glowing red, 1-1/2" wide crown of thorn blooms nearly throughout the year atop the thornless stems and glossy green foliage. One of our favorites! Can be trained into a beautiful and exotic small tree standard. We have seen hummingbirds, butterflies, and even lizards nectaring from the profusion of flowers. Item# 9152.

The fragrant very large 5" wide cupped flowers, when pollinated, produce the largest fruit of any of the Passion Fruits and mature to be 5-6" wide and 8-12" long (wow!). The Giant Granadilla, Passiflora quadrangularis, is a vigorous tropical vine with winged square stems and large oval leaves. It prefers a deep, well-drained, moist to average moist, fertile soil and a full to partly sunny position. High humidity and temperatures of 60^oF or more are required for fruit set and pollination. The Giant Granadilla is considered to be self-sterile and so it requires another species or a different clone (ours are clonally propagated), like Passiflora phoenicia 'Ruby Glow', for cross pollination. Large drooping panicles of fragrant fleecy-white flowers adorn this small, native tree in spring and are followed by clusters of tiny black olive-like fruit in summer and fall and are great for birds. The Grancy Graybeard is a tough and adaptable small deciduous tree with a medium rate of growth that is makes an excellent understory tree, specimen, or in mixed natural landscapes. A repeat flowering Banana Magnolia with a more intense sweet banana fragrance! Hagiwara Everblooming Banana Magnolia produces sweetly fragrant cupped soft yellow flowers for much of summer on this large evergreen shrub to small tree. The large rounded to elongated foliage emerges pink to magenta and the mature pinkish-purple vines are adorned with thick waxy foliage that is narrowly to broadly edged in creamy white. Dainty greenish yellow passionflowers are produced throughout summer and are followed by small black edible/inedible fruit. The Native Yellow Passionflower is a small to medium sized perennial vine with apple green tri-lobed foliage that is often splashed with light silvery variegation.
