Chansonette Sasanqua Camellia
Camellia hiemalis 'Chansonette'
This award winner boasts 3" wide, brilliant pink, formal double flowers that are produced very early in the season, October to December. The flowers may show golden stamens at times. Chansonette Sasanaqua Camellia, a seedling of the famed Shi-Shi Gashira and a C. hiemalis type, is a moderately vigorous, broadly spreading, small to medium-sized evergreen shrub with a somewhat loose and open habit growing to about 4-5' high and nearly twice as wide. It has medium-textured, deep green foliage typical of most Sasanquas and should make for a colorful fall accent or informal hedge. Sasanqua Camellias are much more tolerant of growing conditions than standard Japonica Camellias and can tolerate less than perfect soils and full sun to light shade conditions. A winner of the 1959 Ralph Peers Award. Images courtesy of Cam Too Camellia Nursery, all rights reserved. Item# 13214
