At last there is finally a Southern genotype Mountain Laurel (read heat tolerant) with pink flowers! Large clusters of the most unusual and exquisite five-pointed cupped pink flowers with dark red dimples that hold the dark red spring-loaded anthers are produced in mid to late spring and can literally cover the plant for weeks. A highly prized evergreen native shrub, the Mountain Laurel, Kalmia latifolia, develops into a naturally rounded medium to large shrub with deep green foliage. Like Azaleas and Blueberries, it needs a moist acidic, well-drained soil along with an organic mulch. The flowers attract bumblebees and other pollinators. Audrey Lea Angel's Trumpet (Double Pink)

Brugmansia x cubensis 'Audrey Lea'

Audrey Lea Angel's Trumpet produces sweetly fragrant, large to very large double to triple flowered trumpets that open with a white throat reminiscent of Frosty Pink and darken to deep pink into near reds during the spring and fall growing season. During warmer summer temperatures the flowers are more of a medium pink. This 2013 introduction from the breeding work of Fred Sommers is a vigorous and large growing plant. Angel's Trumpets are fast growing tropical shrubs that act-like die-back perennials in the northern parts of their range but readily return from the roots in spring. It produces clusters of 1/2" wide cream to white star shaped flowers with a purplish 'eye' and the flowers attract butterflies along with a variety of other pollinators.
