Schumann's Cuphea, Orange Cuphea

Cuphea schumanii, Parsonia schumanii

1-1/2" long, deep orange tubular flowers with lavender upper petals and exerted stamens give this cute Cuphea the 'batface' look and are produced throughout the warmer months of the year, or year round where winters are frost free. The flowers attract loads of hummingbirds and other long-tongued pollinators. This is a bushy shrub-like and herbaceous, tender perennial suitable for sunny outdoor locations and can be overwintered in bright indoor locations where not hardy. Slim's Orange Scarlet Ginger (Red-Orange)

Dark reddish-orange flowers emerge from tall spikes that sit atop short and sturdy upright stems with narrow bluish-gray green tropical looking foliage and begins flowering as early June with flowers on and off through summer into fall on established plants. Slim's Orange Scarlet Ginger has about the most compact habit of the any of the other Scarlet Ginger cultivars topping out at 3-4' high making it an excellent choice for containers as well as the garden and landscape. The large conical, bottlebrush-like spikes, to 6" long and 3" wide, are composed of tubular flowers that curl around curiously at their tips in shades of red, yellow, orange, coral pink, to cream are produced most heavily during the warmest months of the year to nearly year-round in mild winter climates attracting both hummingbirds and bees. Superb Grevillea, one of the first hybrids and still widely planted across much of Australia, is a vigorous, well-branched, small to medium-sized, heat and sunloving, evergreen shrub that is cloaked in medium-textured deeply cut rich green foliage. It can be used as a specimen, hedge, or screen. Grevilleas need little supplemental water once well-established in the garden or landscape. Punica granatum 'Sweet'

One of the very sweetest and earliest ripening! The crepe-like orange-pink spring flowers are followed by large, pink to green blushed red fruit that produce pink to pink blushed, exceptionally sweet, and flavorful arils that surround medium seeds and typically ripen in late summer and early fall. Good for both juice, which is clear to light pink, and fresh eating. The Sweet Pomegranate is considered to be a semi-dwarf, multi-stemmed large, deciduous shrub to small tree typically growing to about 10' x 10'. It will fruit and flower best where it receives about 150 chill hours. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in average moist to periodically dry, well-drained, fertile soil for optimum vigor and production.
