Camellia hiemalis 'Green's Blues', C. sasanqua 'Green's Blues'

A blue flowered Sasanqua! Dark purple buds open to purplish-red the first day and change to lavender-blue the second creating a multi-colored effect on this semi-dwarf evergreen Sasanqua in fall. The blues are intensified in acid soils. Rich deep green rounded foliage on a compact rounded plant. Salvia 'Heatwave Brilliance'

Dark glowing magenta two-lipped tubular flowers are produced from spring to fall atop a moderately dense bushy plant. Selected for their heat and drought resistance in Australian climates, the Heatwave™ series of Salvias were developed with the durability of Salvia greggii, the Autumn Sage, but with the denser more compact and longer flowering habit of Salvia microphylla, Little Leaf Sage. Although perfectly suited to our Southwestern climates these Salvias also do well under average garden conditions in well-drained soils and will make well-mannered free flowering and forgiving container specimens as well. Hempleaf Vitex, Chinese Vitex

Vitex negundo var. cannabifolia, V. cannabifolia

Large dense branched pannicles to 12" x 12" are composed of multitudes of small pale purple tubular flowers are produced over an extended period through much of summer and attract a variety of pollinators including smaller shorter tongued bees like Honeybees as well as larger native bees like Bumblebees. The large palmate foliage of Hempleaf Vitex resembles that of the Hemp plant and thus the specific epithet of "cannibifolia". Like its close cousin the Chaste Tree, Vitex agnus-castus, the Hempleaf Vitex, Vitex negundo var. cannibofolia, is an easy to grow sun and heat loving deciduous shrub that prefers an average to well-drained soil. The large, 3-4" wide, frilly daisies of Honeysong Stokesia or Stokes Aster are a true royal purple with centers that darken with age and include tinges of red near the center of the flowers. Stokesia is a tough as nails clump forming native perennial with a tidy habit and long flowering season. The flowers attract a myriad of pollinators and the plants are rarely bothered by pests, deer, and rabbits. Provide a full to mostly sunny position for optimum vigor and flowering. Passiflora x 'Incense'

The deep purple 3-4", richly fragrant exotic looking flowers are produced throughout the growing season on this vigorous Passionvine with medium green foliage. Incense is considered to be one of the hardiest passionvines for US gardens along with the native Maypop Passionvine, Passiflora incarnata, one of its parents, and the US native Yellow Passionvine, Passiflora lutea. In our experience Incense rarely produces fruit on its own and some sources suggest that hand pollination is required. Like the native Maypop Passionflower, Incense readily spreads by rhizomes. Iron Butterfly Ironweed is as tough as its name implies, even though this is a selection of a rare species, it can tolerate short periods of drought or periodic inundation with ease. A nice tightly clump forming perennial from the works of Dr. Allen Armitage and the UGA horticulture program. Brunfelsia 'Isola' (B. grandiflora x B. americana)

2-3" wide night fragrant flowers open lavender and gradually change to creamy white to creamy yellow maintaining hints of purple along the edges of the petals. Flowers on and off throughout the growing season. Isola Brunfelsia, or Purple Lady of the Night, is a compact growing hybrid of B. grandiflora x B. americana and is surprisingly rhizomatous to some extent, or at least our plants are. This colorful hybrid offers the best of both the fragrance, if lighter, of the American Lady of the Night and the purple and lavender tones of the large flowered Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow on a much smaller growing plant.
