Large, 4-5" wide, fragrant, semi-double flowers of the purist white with wavy petals and a contrasting boss of golden yellow stamens shine like spotlights against the foil of deep green glossy foliage. Flowering begins early in the season in October continuing into December, with a few flowers into early January. Setsugekka Sasanqua Camellia has a vigorous moderately upright habit that rounds out with at maturity. This dense foliage of this large evergreen shrub lend it to use as a specimen, screen, hedge, or even a small evergreen tree form. Shiro Bana is an unusual white flowered selection of the Five-leaf Akebia,Akebia quinata. The spicy scented white flowers are born in early spring on this vigorous, semi-evergreen to deciduous vine. The flowers may be followed by 3-4" long purplish fruit. For the best fruit production it is best to plant two different varieties or seedlings and some recommend hand pollination to ensure fruit set. Sinonome Toadlily is an heirloom hybrid long adored for its clean disease resistant foliage on upright to gently arching stems, clump forming habit, and in late summer and fall it produces clusters of white orchid-like flowers with nicely contrasting deep purple spots and flecks. One of the toprated Toadlilies in the Chicago Botanic Gardens extensive trials of the genus, receiving 4 out of 5 stars, for its anthracnose free foliage that remains beautiful throughout the growing season and its overall vigor. These are easy to grow clump forming shade loving perennials that prefer an average moist but well-drained soil. Perfectly formed creamy white tea rose buds open to 3" wide cupped double flowers whose petals may be striped with deep rosy red. Occassionally, flowers may be solid rosy red. An exceptionally fragrant form of the White Lady Banksia Rose introduced by Greg Grant and here is his take on it "An intoxicatingly fragrant single white Lady Banks rose. A seedling selected by the late Robert Bayse from seed from Italy. The most fragrant rose I've ever grown.". The Banksia Roses are durable and long-lived, practically disease free, climbing roses useful for covering large, durable arbors or as large mounding nearly evergreen shrubs or informal hedges. Large pure white mopheads are borne in late spring and summer on this beautiful old favorite. The flowers of Sister Theresa change to green and often to red by fall. This Hydrangea is a good choice for an east or northern exposure, or any mostly shaded position as it does not tolerate full sun well. White buds open to the classic pure white tea rose form and then flatten at maturity with the heaviest flowering in spring, usually around Easter, with some flowers on mature plants in full sun in summer and occassionally in fall. The huge white fruitily fragrant flowers of the Southern Magnolia can reach up to 12" across and are set against a backdrop of deep green glossy foliage in mid to late spring. Pollinated flowers are followed by cones whose fruit ripens to bright red and are often used as additions to fall and early winter bouquets, wreaths, and other types of floral arrangements. The ripe red fruit attract songbirds and small mammals. The Southern Magnolia is a moderately fast growing tree when young and typically develops into a naturally pyramidal form when young and typically develops a rounded crown at maturity. In a full to mostly sunny position limbs will often reach to ground even on mature trees and the dense thick foliage makes a nearly impenetrable mulch beneath them. Seedling trees, which these are, are somewhat variable and flowering may not begin flowering until the trees are 10-25 years of age. Item# 12030

The large, palmate, tropical-looking, glossy medium to deep green foliage is heavily overlaid with contrasting white to creamy white variegation including the major veins which are almost solid white. A choice evergreen shrub for shaded sites.
