One of the most popular and commercially important Olive varieties, Arbequina is semi-dwarf Olive tree that begins bearing at a fairly young age under container culture and takes slightly longer when planted in the garden. Introduced to Spain in the 1600's from Palestine, it has become one of the most popular commercial and home garden varieties that is excellent for both eating and for the exceptionally high quality oil it produces. The brown colored olives are small to medium sized when mature. Olives make beautiful evergreen additions to the garden and landscape with their narrow blue-green foliage with a silvery reverse. Use the Arbequina Olive Tree as a large shrub, small tree, or as a screen or enjoy it as a container plant or bonsai specimen. Provide ample sunlight and a well-drained soil. Arbequina Olive has long been touted as being self-fertile but recent studies seem to contradict that (see "Olives for Your Florida Landscape" from the University of Florida Extension to learn more). Use Arbosana, Koroneiki, or Picual for cross pollination. Item# 11251
