Not like pokeweed (11/14/2023)
Rivina isn't as closely related to Pokeweed as once thought; they are now in different families. I was dissuaded from buying it for years because I work in a public garden and many said it was toxic but they tried to find a lethal dose of it in animal studies and were unable to find it.

If it was anything like pokeweed I don't think people wouldve used it as a lipstick colorant in South America for long lol..

Anyhow, it is a cute woodland groundcover plant where native and quite flexible but I find them often slow to get going. I grow it in more temperate woodland and tropical themes alike. Goes well with Salvia miniata completely under oak canopy or Thai tulips if given part shade
