The Lord Baltimore began blooming 6-7 weeks after I planted it. The blooms are indeed huge and a deep red color, just lovely. After 8 weeks it is covered in blooms. The soil in my yard is clay over caliche and I had to create a well draining micro-climate for it. I planted it at the top of a gentle slope, dug a 2’ deep hole with a trench that ran down slope. Lined the bottom of the hole and trench with sand and decomposed granite and followed Almost Eden’s planting instructions. The trench was also filled with well draining soil and is now invisible, covered with grass and I’m enjoying those blooms.
