Spider Lilies (8/25/2017)
I adore red spider lilies - what we call them. They are the first hint of fall for us in Mississippi. As soon as you the blooms pop out of the ground, you know cooler temps are around the corner. They return year after year, spread pleasantly (often popping up in an unexpected place thanks to birds). I always leave my seed heads and before they get ready to fall, I throw them around my yard and perennial borders.

Red Spider Lily (7/30/2017)
They grow in heavy shade and afternoon sun. Actually they grow where ever the squirrels move them. They bloom in fall along with pineapple sage. People stop and knock on my door asking what they are. Mine don't bloom the first year I move them but well worth the wait.
