Disney Scarlet Ginger
Hedychium coccineum 'Disney', H. coccineum 'Honduras Form', H. coccineum 'Orange Brush'

Tall spikes of soft to medium orange flowers sit atop sturdy upright stems and are produced over a long period in summer on well-established plantings. This ginger's sweetly fragrant flowers attract larger butterflies like Swallowtails and Giant Sulphurs. The Disney form of the Scarlet Ginger is one of the more compact and erect growing forms of this species. Disney is also known as the Honduras Form and as the Orange Brush Ginger.  is a naturally evergreen, rhizomatous and slowly spreading, tropical that acts like a root hardy, die-back perennial in areas where freezes occur. It multiplies readily but not invasively. Makes a good cut flower and is resistant to browsing by deer and rabbits. The Hedychium Gingers typically need the equivalent of about 4-6 hours of cool sunlight in a moist to average moist, rich fertile soil with average or better drainage for optimum vigor and flowering. An organic mulch with all of its many benefits is highly recommended especially for new plantings and in zones 7-8. The Disney Scarlet Ginger is a vigorous, easy and hardy selection. Item# 11522

Wine Country Louisiana Iris
Iris x 'Wine Country'

Deep wine red falls changing to purple at their outer edge and with a contrasting gold signal and with the standards being only slightly lighter with more purple tones and are topped by light wine red style arms. Wine Country Louisiana Iris is mid to late season flowering, or April-May, and growing to 30-36" high. Note: IMHO this cultivar looks different than the one pictured in the images on the American Iris Society's Iris Wiki as that flower appears more purple than wine and has noticeably ruffled edges. Louisiana Irises are easy and adaptable, rhizomatous perennials with fans of deep green sword-like foliage and seem as at home in standing water as they do in average moist garden soils. Remember that these plants do most of their growing in fall and winter and so this is when they should be fed and fall is also a great time to divide plants if desired. Provide a full to mostly sunny site for optimum vigor and flowering. Item# 13341
