Alma Fig

Ficus carica 'Alma'

Alma, bred by the Texas ARS, produces a large crop medium to large pear shaped to rounded green fruit that ripens to yellow or bronze. The amber to pink flesh of Alma is considered to be excellent with a rich and very sweet flavor. The small eye is filled with honeydew and is highly resistant to spoiling making this a good choice for the South and Southeastern US. Alma bears fruit at a young age. Excellent fresh, dried, or preserved. The highly productive trees are smaller than average with a compact habit and with good vigor. Late season ripening. Item # 9498.

Ischia Fig is a heavy producer of small to fairly large fruit that ripens to greenish yellow and has a rich flavor. Little Ruby Dwarf Fig

Ficus carica 'Little Ruby'

A dwarf and hardy fig that is an excellent choice for patio culture as far north as zone 6. Little Ruby produces a breba crop of medium sized sweet red figs with strawberry colored flesh. Developed by the same retired biologist who gave us the hardy and huge Olympian Fig, Denny McGaughy, he chose this seedling for its hardiness, compact habit, as well as reliability. Little Ruby is so compact in fact that it is sometimes selected as a bonsai specimen. Item# 11025

Texas Everbearing Fig, Brown Turkey Fig, Abique Noire Fig, Negro Largo Fig, San Piero Fig

Ficus carica 'Texas Everbearing', F. carica 'Brown Turkey'

The Texas Everbearing Fig is the ultimate Southern fig producing large crops of medium to large, brown to maroon, turbinate figs over a long season that begins in June. The Texas Everbearing fig is also known as Brown Turkey fig.  The flesh is strawberry red and is sweet with good flavor. This is probably the most reliable and commonly grown fig in Southern regions but it is the standard bearer for hardiness tolerating the climate of zone 5. It is known to fruit if frozen to the ground as well. Resistant to spoiling and splitting and good fresh, dried, or preserved. Self pollinating and with a small but open eye. Item# 11129

The Yellow Long Neck Fig is a found fig that was discovered at the San Diego Botanic Gardens, previously known as Quail Gardens. Great for fresh eating, pickling, and preserves.
