Sylvia Goodman Hibiscus
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Sylvia Goodman'
The 4-5" wide buttery yellow flowers are centered by a contrasting deep red to burgundy eye at the base of the staminal column and is surrounded by a broad halo of white. Sylvia Goodman is an unusual Tropical Hibiscus with a vigorous upright to rounded growth habit and has exceptional flower power producing a potentially year-round display of its showy blossoms. The flower coloration, vigor, and growth habit are similar to Sport of Sports or Yellow El Capitolio which may be in this cultvar's lineage. Provide a full to partly sunny site in a rich fertile, acidic soil with good drainage for optimum vigor and flowering. Sylvia Goodman Tropical Hibiscus can also be used as a formal or informal shrub for hedging and screens, trained into tree standards, or even trained into large espalier.
