Violette De Bordeaux, the dark purple form of Bordeaux, produces medium sized purple fruit with dark purplish-red flesh. The tree is dwarf and compact making it suitable for containers and is one the more cold hardy varieties tolerating zone 6 winters. Dense flattened clusters of dainty white tubular flowers top the narrow blue-green to green fragrant foliage in summer. The small nectar rich flowers of Virginia Mountain Mint, Pycnanthemum virginianum, attract a wide variety of pollinators, and are especially important to native bees. This is a rhizomatous native perennial that will readily spread especially in moist soils. It is native mainly to the northcentral and northeastern US and is typically found in moist soils but can tolerate drier sites where it is less likely to spread aggressively. Virginia Mountain Mint is tolerant of a wide variety of soil types from clay, to sandy, to rocky as well as calcareous soils. Item# 12355

White Jade Pineapple Plant

Ananus comosus 'White Jade'

This super sweet Hawaiian pineapple has white, low acid flesh with a fully edible core on a spineless plant. White Jade Pineapple quickly reaches maturity flowering and fruiting within the first 1-2 years. This bromeliad develops into a large rosette of tapering blue-green foliage that adds a tropical flare to the patio or the garden and landscape where hardy. Where not hardy it makes an easy and forgiving container plant that can be overwintered indoors when temperatures fall below freezing. It can be grown in sun to light shade and provide a well-drained, fertile soil for optimum vigor. Once it fruits, save the top of the pineapple to grow a new plant. Item# 12301

Whiteleaf Mountainmint, Sage

Pycnanthemum albescens

Clusters of tiny, light pink, tubular flowers are encircled by a mass of velvety white, bract-like leaves in mid to late summer. Whiteleaf Mountainmint, Pycnanthemum albescens, has a strong minty sage-like fragrance and can be used in place of sage in cooking. It is a clump forming native perennial with an upright to rounded growth habit reaching about 3' high by flowering. The dainty flowers are pollinated by a variety of smaller pollinators but are especially relished by bees. Easy to grow and deer and pest resistant. Whiteleaf Mountainmint is somewhat drought resistant once well-established. Item# 10669

Wild Chervil, Canadian Honewort

Cryptotaenia canadensis

According to Dr. Allen's Edible Plants of the Gulf South, Wild Chervil or Honewort is an easy to grow, native, tuberous rooted perennial whose leaves, stems, and flowers are useful fresh in salads or can be cooked as a green, the tuberous roots can be used as a starch, and the seeds can be used as a spice. Grow it as a loose groundcover in shade to partial shade in a moist, but not soggy soil,  preferably rich in organic matter. A host for the Eastern Black Swallowtail butterfly. Item# 10219.

Wonderful Pomegranate

Punica granatum 'Wonderful'

One of the most popular cultivars in home orchards and is the most common variety typically found in grocery stores. The crepe-like red-orange spring flowers are followed by medium to large, red to red-purple fruit with sweet-tart, deep red arils surrounding the medium hard to soft seeds. Good for fresh eating and juicing and holds well. The Wonderful Pomegranate is considered to be a semi-dwarf, multi-stemmed large, deciduous shrub to small tree typically growing to about 10' x 10'. It will fruit and flower best where it receives about 150 chill hours. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in average moist to periodically dry, well-drained, fertile soil for optimum vigor and production. The Wonderful Pomegranate is self-fruitful but may produce larger fruit and larger crops with a cross-pollinator which can be any other cultivar of Pomegranate. Item# 890

Yuhsiensis Fragrant Camellia

Camellia yuhsienensis

From a profusion of buds emerge 3" wide, pure white, nicely fragrant flowers whose petals are notched at the end and surround a boss of yellow stamens. Yuhsienensis Camellia is a moderately vigorous grower with a naturally dense branching habit on an upright to rounded evergreen shrub. Flowering begins early in the season and may continue well into midseason (November to January). This is a parent of the hybrid Yume Camellia which itself was used to create the "Dream" series from Bobby Green and Green's Nurseries. Camellia yuhsienensis has also been used to breed fragrant Camellia cultivars. Item# 11334
