Large 8"+ wide pink flowers with overlapping petals 'airbrushed' with white extending to near the middle of the flowers and with a deep red eye are produced over an extended period beginning in late spring to summer (depending on your zone) and flowering into fall. Airbrush Effect Perennial or Hardy Hibiscus is an 'indeterminate' flowering selection meaning that it flowers over a longer period than older cultivars. This is a compact 3-4'H x 4-5'W plant with rich green foliage well suited to moist sunny sites in the garden and landscape. The medium pink balloon-shaped buds burst open to nicely contrasting light pink star-shaped flowers with darker pink veining are produced over an extended period from late spring until fall. Astra Pink Balloon Flower is a dwarf compact selection that grows to about 8-12" high and 6-8" wide making it a choice plant for containers or as a long-lived garden and landscape addition. The compact habit helps this cultivar start flowering sooner than its larger growing cousins. Balloon Flowers make long-lived low maintenance additions and the interesting buds and large flowers are sure to make this a conversation piece. Noted for its dark chocolate to maroon colored foliage, in summer Black Truffle Lobelia produces tall dark spikes of deep true red tubular flowers that are truly a hummingbird's delight. Combine this beauty with chartreuse elephant ears or other light colored moisture loving plants for a wonderful contrast. Black Truffle Cardinal Flower is a hybrid selection with Lobelia cardinalis parentage which by some accounts is considered to be the most beautiful of North America's red flowered species. The 2-3" wide dark eyed daisies are composed of deep golden yellow rays that surround the dark brown to black cones are produced in late spring to summer (depending on your zone). The flowers attract bees and other small pollinators and the seed heads attract songbirds. The Black-Eyed Susan is an annual - atleast in our area, biennial, to short-lived perennial with dark green hairy foliage that adorns well-branched plants and each plant can produce 20-30 or more flowers. This is a widespread species found along roadsides, meadows and prairies, savannas, and in open Longleaf Pine forests mainly in soils with average or better drainage. The Black-Eyed Susan is a common addition to seedmixes and readily reseeds on exposed soils, although it is not an aggressive species. Item# 11725

The large, soft pumpkin orange, trumpet shaped, fragrant flowers are highlighted by a contrasting starry, lemony yellow throat and are held in clusters atop thick, sturdy stems well above the bluish green strap-like foliage. Pale blue frilly 1 to 1-1/2" wide daisies with a nicely contrasting yellow center are produced beginning in late spring and through summer often continuing into fall atop a neat mound of deep green foliage. The Blue Star Japanese Aster is a tidy under-used clump-forming perennial selected for its exceptionally long flowering season that is sure to add delightful color to the garden and landscape but it also makes easy and exceptionally long-flower container specimens. Dense broadly conical 3-4" high spikes of intense sapphire blue tubular flowers open from the bottom upwards with the first flowers to open creating the broad brim of the witches hat. Blue Witches Hat, or Hedgehog Sage, begins flowering in autumn and in areas where it is protected from frosts it can flower throughout winter and into spring. It is a medium to short day flowering plant. This tropical South African member of the mint family can develop into a shrub where winters are freeze and frost free reaching up to 8' high, 3-4' high in a container is more typical. Item# 11750

Soft pastel pink with hints of purple 6-8" long trumpets are produced seemingly throughout the year on this smaller growing hybrid Angel's Trumpet with trumpets angled down and sideways versus just the typical straight downward hanging trumpets of most Brugmansia cultivars. Blushing Bride Brugmansia is a compact and smaller growing plant with probably the longest flowering season of any that we currently grow. The smaller habit lends it to use as a magnificent container specimen. Due to its Brugmansia sanguinea parentage we are not yet certain of its cold hardiness in the ground but some suggest zone 8. A sport of the ever popular Miss Huff Lantana, Chapel Hill™ Pink Huff produces clusters of flowers that open primrose yellow and fade to a medium rosy pink with an orange eye on a slightly more compact plant but with the reliable hardiness of its parent. Lantana are excellent pollinator plants attracting a myriad of bees, butterflies, and numerous other garden beneficials are lured in by the promise of rich ample nectar. These are die-back perennials in zones 7,8, and 9 that return from the crown once soil temperatures begin to warm in spring. Not only are they excellent for pollinators, Lantana provide a continuous display of color from spring to frost. Provide a full to mostly sunny position and average or better drainage. Graceful foot-long spikes of fuzzy bright fuchsia tubular flowers are produced from summer through fall and throughout winter under frost free conditions on a mannerly shade tolerant plant with deep green textured foliage. Chiapas Sage develops into a 3' high and wide plant and hails from the Cloud Forests of San Cristobal, Chiapas, Mexico and should do wonderfully in the humid central and eastern US. It is frost tender but is reported to withstand zone 7 winters if given a breathable protective winter mulch in a well-drained soil. In hot summer climates plan to give Chiapas Sage midday and afternoon shade and it can tolerate light shade and will be sure to brighten up these areas. The nectar rich flowers are a treat for hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. Easy to overwinter as a container plant and floriferous enough to be enjoyed as an annual. Item# 11691 

Small clusters of large 4-petaled sunny yellow flowers are lightly fragrant and open in the evening to attract pollinating moths and may last until about noon the following day when they attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Ripe seeds are utilized by songbirds. Common Evening Primrose is a tall growing tap-rooted native biennial species found throughout most of the lower 48 states and into Canada. It is common in disturbed areas, meadows and prairies. The first year it produces a rosette of foliage and the second year it shoots up to 3-6' high and begins flowering in summer and may continue into fall under good conditions. The Common Evening Primrose will readily reseed on exposed soils. It is a good addition to naturilized areas or add it to the Moon Moth Garden. Item# 11761

Dark near red and orange colored perfectly formed buds open to nicely fragrant apricot colored flowers that mature to a nice medium to coral pink and that are almost full enough to resemble a cabbage rose. Flowering is heaviest in spring and fall and well-established plants will produce additional flowers in between times. Cornelia is an heirloom Hybrid Musk Rose with good disease resistance and it is nearly thornless making it a good choice for arbors and near garden paths. It can be grown as a large fountaining shrub or as a medium-sized climber with canes can that reach 10'. Provide a full to mostly sunny location, although Cornelia is considered to be moderately shade tolerant, in an average moist moderately fertile soil with average or better drainage for optimum vigor and flowering. Crushed Coral Mamou Bean produces tall spikes of dark coral pink, 2-3" tubular flowers in late spring and early summer atop sturdy stems that are held well above the foliage of this tough native perennial. The Mamou Bean is a drought tolerant and hardy shrublet that freezes back to the ground to return in spring. The flowers are followed by dark colored bean pods that split open to display their brilliant red-orange beans that can remain on the plant all winter.
