4 petaled rosy pink 1" wide flowers are produced in loose clusters atop a compact mass of foliage and stems that are tinged with red. The Virginia Meadow Beauty, or Handsome Harry, is a rhizomatous groundcovering perennial that readily multiplies but is not aggressive. The colorful foliage and stems can be almost as pretty as the flowers and certainly adds to the beauty of this native species. Tolerant of average moist soils once well-established, it is more commonly found in continuously moist to wet sites in sandy acidic soils. *In more sun it will prefer more moisture and will tolerate average moist sites where it receives midday and or afternoon shade. On sunny days the flower petals may fall away around noon. Attracts native bees for buzz pollination. Item# 11762
