Iris x 'Start of Something Big'

An eye-catching yet elegant combination of large lemony-yellow falls are accented by lime-green veining and signals and are topped by contrasting bright white standards that are tipped in yellow and are accented by complimentary green and yellow veining which are then topped by lime-green style arms that are broadly tipped and edged in yellow. Start of Something Big Louisiana Iris is a small to medium-sized plant growing to about 30" high and it flowers very late in the season, typically May. It received an Honorable Mention from the American Iris Society in 2015. Louisiana Irises are easy and adaptable, rhizomatous perennials with fans of deep green sword-like foliage and seem as at home in standing water as they do in average moist garden soils. Remember that these plants do most of their growing in fall and winter and so this is when they should be fed and fall is also a great time to divide plants if desired. Provide a full to mostly sunny site for optimum vigor and flowering. Item# 13346

Sunfisher Siberian Iris

The large deep yellow falls are topped by contrasting light primrose yellow standards and style arms and the flowers are reported to have a light sweet fragrance. One of the earlier Siberian Irises to begin flowering, Sunfisher grows to about 24-30" high. Provide Siberian Iris with an average moist to consistently moist moderately fertile soil and they can be planted near ponds, streams, and bog gardens as well as in average moist garden and landscape settings. This multi-award winning Siberian Iris produces extra large, up to 5" wide, bright white flowers which are accented with yellow signals. Swans In Flight flowers in very late in the season atop sturdy 30-36"H stems. The deep green narrow foliage provides grass-like motion in the garden even when the plants are not in flower. White Cemetery Iris, White Flag Iris

In early to midspring the elegant pure white flowers composed of 3 drooping falls and 3 upright white standards are held above the upright to arching, semi-twisty blue-gray sword-like foliage adorning sturdy blue-gray stems. Makes an excellent companion for early spring daffodils and jonquils! The White Cemetery Iris, Iris albicans also I. x albicans, is so named for the fact that cemetaries as well as old home places are often the most common places to find them in the US and it was at first even thought to be native here. It was the practice of Muslim cultures, and possibly others, to adorn graves with this tough and reliable heirloom Bearded Iris where it slowly develops into a dense clump foliage and spring flowers. Provide the White Cemetery Iris with a well-drained soil in a full to mostly sunny location for optimum vigor and flowering. Sold as individual plants actively growing is their own soil and container ready to plant into the garden. They can also be enjoyed as low maintenance container plants. Wine Country Louisiana Iris

Iris x 'Wine Country'

Deep wine red falls changing to purple at their outer edge and with a contrasting gold signal and with the standards being only slightly lighter with more purple tones and are topped by light wine red style arms. Wine Country Louisiana Iris is mid to late season flowering, or April-May, and growing to 30-36" high. Note: IMHO this cultivar looks different than the one pictured in the images on the American Iris Society's Iris Wiki as that flower appears more purple than wine and has noticeably ruffled edges. Yarai Pseudata Iris

Iris x 'Yarai'

The pastel yellow falls are heavily overlaid with dark burgundy veining and starkly contrasting deep yellow signals accented by the wine colored standards. The flowers appear to be pastel orange from a distance. The Pseudata Iris is hybrid of the Japanese Iris, Iris ensata, and the Yellow Flag Iris, Iris pseudocorus, combining the vigor, adaptability, and yellow pigmentation of the Yellow Flag with the elegance and refinement of the Japanese Irises. The multi-award winning Yarai Pseudata Iris has a high bud count and is one of the earliest to begin flowering and it flowers over a long period compared to other beardless Irises. Flowering stalks growing to about 24-30" high. Yarai translates to Night Thunder which seems fitting for this cultivar.
