Fragrant Plants

Shiro Bana is an unusual white flowered selection of the Five-leaf Akebia,Akebia quinata. The spicy scented white flowers are born in early spring on this vigorous, semi-evergreen to deciduous vine. The flowers may be followed by 3-4" long purplish fruit. For the best fruit production it is best to plant two different varieties or seedlings and some recommend hand pollination to ensure fruit set. This woody twining vine is adaptable to a variety of site conditions and is pest and disease resistant. Item# 1079.

Shredded White Fantasy, or locally simply Shredded White, produces hanging clusters of long pure white flowers composed of a double cluster of loose petals that twist and flare outward at the bottom like a petticoat beneath the dark green fuzzy tropical foliage. Light pink fragrant blooms are borne in summer on this easily grown tropical tree. This dwarf branching plant with a palm-like look makes it a great addition around a pool. A tough and reliable clump-forming perennial with arching to upright gray-green foliage which is topped by clusters of fragrant (most fragrant after dark!) lavender flowers from early summer to fall. Often throughout summer, small, fragrant beautiful bell-shaped nearly white to blue flowers with gracefully recurving 'petals' (in Clematis it is the large colorful sepals that we often most enjoy) of light blue, blue, or purple. A sweetly fragrant Abelia, Sweet Emotion® produces dark rosy pink buds that open to white fragrant blossoms. This is a selection of the Fragrant Pink Abelia that flowers in late spring and produces orange to red fall color. Provide a well-drained acid soil in a mostly to partly sunny location for the best results.
