2-3" wide reddish orange to brick-red orchid-like blossoms are produced in clusters from summer and into fall are held against the blue-green bi-lobed foliage. The Red Orchid Tree is a naturally sprawling medium to large evergreen to deciduous tropical shrub and can easily be trained into a small tree, pruned into a shrub form, or even as a vine over a small arbor in mild winter climates. This beautiful Bauhinia can also be enjoyed as a container plant or espalier. The flowers attract a variety of pollinators including butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. A South African species, Pride of de Kaap is drought resistant once well established but will flower best with average moisture, a well-drained, fertile soil, and full sunlight. Red Riot Cape Honeysuckle

Red Riot Cape Honeysuckle has flowers that are double the size of typical Cape Honeysuckles in riotous true red versus the deep red of our Red Cape Honeysuckle. The large clusters of tubular flowers with recurving to erect petals attract hummingbirds, and larger butterflies, and larger bees rob nectar via holes that they create at the base of the flower. This is an easy to grow, heat and sun-loving, tropical vine-like or scandent shrub that can be used as a large arching to fountaining shrub, hedge, trained as a vine or espalier, as well as tree standards. Red Shrimp Plant, False Hope, Shrimp Plant, Shrimp Bush

The Red Shrimp Plant produces a continuous display of upright to arching spikes composed of large showy maroon bracts from which the individual maroonish-red and white tubular flowers emerge in spring and summer to year round under warm tropical conditions. This plant has exceptional flower power and makes a beautiful display as a container plant specimen and in mixed container gardens as well as in the garden and landscape. The common Shrimp Plant, Justicia brandegeeana, seems to be happiest where it has some respite from hot midday sun in hot summer climates. In areas with cool summer climates the Shrimp Plant can tolerate full sun conditions. Provide an average to well-drained, moderately fertile, average moist soil for optimum vigor and flowering. Redneck Nation Alabama Witch Alder, Fothergilla

Fothergilla milleri 'Redneck Nation'

Dense bottlebrush-like flowers composed of fragrant frilly white to cream colored flowers are produced atop the tips of the bare stems in late winter or early spring. Redneck Nation Fothergilla or Witch Alder is a moderately dense growing small to medium sized deciduous suckering native shrub with showy gray-green and bronze new growth that matures to blue-green in summer and produces fall color in shades of red, orange, and yellow. This species is new to science as of 2020! The the cultivar name is in honor of its original discovery by botanist and naturalist Fred Nation in Baldwin County, Alabama and the species name honors Dr. Ron Miller. Provide an average moist, well-drained, acidic soil in full to partly sunny location for optimum vigor and flowering. Redneck Nation Fothergilla can be used as a low growing and low maintenance informal hedge or as a specimen plant in the garden and landscape as well as in naturalistic settings.
