Disney Scarlet Ginger

Hedychium coccineum 'Disney', H. coccineum 'Honduras Form', H. coccineum 'Orange Brush'

Tall spikes of soft to medium orange flowers sit atop sturdy upright stems and are produced over a long period in summer on well-established plantings. This ginger's sweetly fragrant flowers attract larger butterflies like Swallowtails and Giant Sulphurs. The Disney form of the Scarlet Ginger is one of the more compact and erect growing forms of this species. Disney is also known as the Honduras Form and as the Orange Brush Ginger.  is a naturally evergreen, rhizomatous and slowly spreading, tropical that acts like a root hardy, die-back perennial in areas where freezes occur. It multiplies readily but not invasively. Makes a good cut flower and is resistant to browsing by deer and rabbits. The Hedychium Gingers typically need the equivalent of about 4-6 hours of cool sunlight in a moist to average moist, rich fertile soil with average or better drainage for optimum vigor and flowering. An organic mulch with all of its many benefits is highly recommended especially for new plantings and in zones 7-8. The Disney Scarlet Ginger is a vigorous, easy and hardy selection. Item# 11522

Fragrant peachy orange butterfly-shaped lightly fragrant flowers are produced in large spikes in summer atop tall sturdy stems adorned with heavily variegated white and green tropical looking foliage. Coming again in 2022! Small clusters of 2-3" wide brilliant golden yellow trumpet shaped flowers are produced throughout the growing season to potentially year-round under warm tropical conditions and are mainly butterfly pollinated but also attract bees and other pollinators. The Dwarf Allamanda, Allamanda cathartica 'Compacta', is a small, naturally evergreen, tropical shrub growing to 2-3'H x 2-3'W and potentially slightly larger with age. The stems are adorned with whorls of glossy narrow foliage to about 3" long. Dwarf Mexican Fire Bush, Hamelia, Firebush

Hamelia patens var. glabra 'Nana', H. patens var. glabra 'Firefly'

Clusters of fiery-orange tubular flowers are seemingly borne continuously from mid to late spring to fall, where grown as a die-back perennial, to potentially nearly year-round under warm tropical conditions attracting mainly hummingbirds but also larger butterflies. The Dwarf Mexican Firebush, Hamelia patens var. glabra 'Nana', is a naturally evergreen, heat and sunloving, tropical shrub that acts like a die-back perennial returning from the crown in spring in areas where freezes occur. This compact form of the Mexican Firebush lends it to use in smaller spaces and containers as well as in the garden and landscape. The Dwarf Mexican Firebush appears to be just as hardy as the standard larger growing form and we have seen it take temperatures as low as 8oF with no problems carrying its hardiness well into zone 8. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in an average moist, well-drained, fertile soil for optimum vigor and continuous flowering. Item# 403

1/4" deep red flowers adorn the tall, wispy, elongating flower spikes from spring to frost attracting a variety of butterflies, hummingbirds, and larger bees.
