Cold Hardy Camellias for Zone 7A
These Camellias, Sasanquas, and hybrids are considered to be reliably cold hardy and reliably flowering in zones 7A and warmer. This includes some that are even fragrant, an uncommon trait among these members of the Tea family or Theaceae. To learn more about how to grow these relatively easy evergreen shrubs checkout our Camellia and Sasanqua Growing Guide.
Don-Mac Camellia
Camellia japonica 'Don-Mac'
Large to very large, deep red, billowy, semi-double flowers are centered by a large contrasting boss of gold tipped stamens and produced over an extended period from mid to late season, January to April. The pollen laden flowers attract bees and various other pollinators. Don-Mac Camellia is a large flowered Japonica type with a moderate rate of growth eventually maturing into a large rounded evergreen shrub. Provide Camellias with a fertile soil rich in organic matter, with average moisture, and an organic mulch. Images courtesy of Cam Too Camellia Nursery, all rights reserved. Item# 13217
