Considered by many to be the best of the Mountainmints, Clustered Mountainmint produces an abundance of tiny whitish tubular blooms touched with purple or lavender in tight clusters held above the attractive bluish white bracts. The bracts are probably more showy than the flowers but the flowers attract loads of pollinators including bees and small butterflies. The foliage is wonderfully fragrant and can be used in teas and cooking. This is a durable and slowly spreading native perennial that flowers throughout the summer months. Item# 10029.

Dark Knight Bluebeard, a.k.a. Black Knight, is a vigorous and easy sunloving free-flowering clump forming shrub-like perennial that quickly develops into a dense mound of fragrant and deer resistant gray-green foliage. In zones 5-6 it tends to act more like a clump forming die-back perennial and becomes more shrub-like where winters are milder although it benefits from hard late winter or early spring pruning since it flowers on new growth. The dwarf form of it's much larger cousin and native to the sandy and sandy loam soils of much of the southeast US. In late winter to early this tree literally covers up in clusters of pink-purple to red-purple pea-shaped flowers that are borne from seemingly every nook, cranny, and twig and even along much of the trunk. The flowers are followed by edible peapods (when young and tender). The Eastern Redbud is a small native deciduous tree with medium to large heart-shaped foliage and a broad spreading crown often as wide or nearly as wide as it is high. It is found naturally from central Texas and throughout the central US reaching into the New England states. Redbuds are often found with our native White Dogwoods in good quality well-drained sandy loam acidic soils. This native tree is naturally an understory tree making it shade tolerant but it will also grow quite well in full to mostly sunny sites. The abundant flowers offer nectar and pollen to a variety of large and small native bees. Item# 11618
