Chicago Hardy produces large crops of medium to small nearly black to brown or violet, pear shaped to turbinate figs with amber to strawberry flesh with a rich sweet flavor. Very similar to Brown Turkey. The eye is small minimizing spoilage. Hardy Chicago was found growing in the Chicago, Illinois area although it may have originated in Sicily, Italy. Chinese Snowball Bush

Viburnum macrocephalum sterile

Huge, rounded, white Hydrangea-like flowers are borne in early spring and last for several weeks. The color show starts with small rounded clusters of apple-green buds and so the Chinese Snowball Bush entertains us for weeks in anticipation of spring. Mature plants will often produce flowers in late summer as well although the best show is typically in spring. These are easy to grow large shrubs with a medium to fast rate of growth and a naturally upright to vase shaped habit when young eventually growing as wide as high once mature. Chinese Snowball Bush was selected as a 2006 Georgia Gold Medal Winner! The huge flowers make excellent long lasting cut flowers for a vase as well. Item# 10362.

Chinese Wolfberry is one of the two species used for Goji Berry production. Developing into a medium to large somewhat scandent or sprawling deciduous shrub, the Wolfberry produces purple star shaped flowers in summer that are followed by 1/2" long, acid, bright orange-red fruit. Chocolate Eupatorium, White Snakeroot

Ageratina altissima 'Chocolate', Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate'

Dark maroon to near black stems foliage and stems make this native perennial a standout amongst its garden peers even without its starkly contrasting clusters of white late summer flowers. Chocolate Eupatorium, a cultivar of White Snakeroot and actually a species of Ageratina altissima (not Eupatorium altissimum), is a rhizomatously spreading herbaceous perennial with an upright bushy habit to about 3' high (or to 5' in rich moist soils) that is found throughout the central and eastern US. Provide a full to mostly sunny site for the deepest foliage color and optimum flowering. The flowers attracts bees, butterflies, other garden beneficials. Use Chocolate Eupatorium as a tall informal groundcover, utilize it in mixed perennial borders with other vigorous growing perennials, or as a container plant. Claire Grace Beebalm, Wild Bergamot

Rounded clusters of medium purple tubular flowers are produced in late spring to early summer atop sturdy stems. The flowers attract hummingbirds and larger butterflies. Claire Grace Beebalm was selected not only for its long-lasting masses of darker purple flowers but also for its glossy green healthy foliage with good resistance to powdery mildew. This was one of the top 3 performing Monardas in trials that included over 40 cultivars at Mt. Cuba Center near Wilmington Delaware. Discovered in Mississippi by Barb and Michael Bridges of the now defunct Southern Perennials and Herbs and named for their daughter. Beebalm makes an easy and reliable addition to the garden and landscape as well as in naturalized areas. Considered by many to be the best of the Mountainmints, Clustered Mountainmint produces an abundance of tiny whitish tubular blooms touched with purple or lavender in tight clusters held above the attractive bluish white bracts. The bracts are probably more showy than the flowers but the flowers attract loads of pollinators including bees and small butterflies. Common Boneset

Eupatorium perfoliatum var. perfoliatum

Large flattened clusters composed of numerous dainty white flowers sit atop sturdy stems with medium green softly quilted pairs of leaves that are connected at their bases and looking as though they are 'perforated' (thus the 'perfoliatum' in the botanical name) by the furry stems. Common Boneset is a clump-forming late summer to early fall flowering perennial native to much of the central and eastern US. The flowers attract a variety of smaller pollinators. The united pairs of leaves led herbalists to believe that this plant would help with broken bones. Common Boneset can be found growing along the edges of bogs and moist areas but is also tolerant of average moist soils where it receives shade during the hottest part of the day. Item# 11729
