An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner! The small to medium-sized, double, ruby red to rose red flowers, occasionally with a lavender tinge, showing varying amounts of yellow stamens among the central petaloids, are produced early in the season, October to December. Sparkling Burgundy Sasanqua Camellia, a C. hiemalis hybrid with Shi-Shi Gashira lineage, has a vigorous, yet compact, well-branched habit growing to about 5-7' high and equally wide and is cloaked in medium-textured, dark green, glossy foliage. Use this medium-sized evergreen shrub as a fall flowering accent, hedge, or even a container plant in formal or informal settings. This was one of the earliest patented Camellias assigned USPP1539. The Sasanqua Camellias are much more tolerant of growing conditions than standard Japonica Camellias and can tolerate less than perfect soils and full sun to light shade conditions. Item# 13229

The rounded clusters of flowers open a bright golden yellow and mature through bright pumpkin orange and finally into deep red tones all the while attracting a wide variety of pollinators with their nectar reward from spring until fall. The medium sized cupped deep red single flowers are heavily edged with a broad band of pure clean white and a contrasting boss of bright yellow stamens. The Roselle that we grow is definitely Hibiscus sabdariffa var. sabdariffa of the race ruber that is known for its large, thick, deep clear wine red, crispy, sweet, cranberry flavored calyxes.A vigorous annual to tender perennial, Roselle Hibiscus prefers a warm, mostly sunny position in a well-draining, humus rich, moderately fertile, sandy-loam and free from competition. Torpedo is a slightly larger flowering form of Batface Cuphea which produces 1-1/2" long red tubular blooms that end with a purple bat-like face that is accented by the bright red 'ears' on a naturally mounding plant. The fuzzy dangling crimson flowers of this tough little trailing perennial are born throughout the warmer months of the year or all year long when grown indoors. Generally considered an annual, the Trailing Chenille Plant is actually a cold hardy and durable perennial suitable for full sun or light shade. The large pure white football shaped buds open to fragrant white trumpets sitting atop sturdy stems. This vigorous Crinum was generously shared with us by Marc Pastorek of Pastorek Habitats and is similar to Crinum x powellii 'Album' and C. moorei 'Alba' and may be the latter, or a hybrid of it, due to the shape of the medium to light green strap-like foliage. A streak of clear bright white adorns the starkly contrasting brilliant true red flowers of this compact China Rose. Chi Long Han Zhu Rose, which roughly translates to White Pearl in Red Dragon's Mouth, is an easy to grow heirloom garden rose and was among the first repeat flowering roses exported out of China. A densely branching shrub rose with red to bronze new growth with good disease resistance and excellent flower power. Chi Long Han Zhu can flower for 10-12 months a year and in the coldest winters it may take a brief respite only to show off again in mild winter weather.
