Peaches and Cream Grevillea, Hybrid Australian Silk Oak

Grevillea 'Peaches and Cream' PP18035

The large conical spikes are composed of tubular flowers that curl around curiously at their tips open a pastel creamy yellow and mature to a peachy pink and orange are produced nearly year round attracting both hummingbirds and bees. At maturity the red tipped styles spring open providing additional contrast and creating a bottlebrush-like display. Peaches and Cream Grevillea is a compact well-branched medium-sized heat and sunloving evergreen shrub that is cloaked in medium-textured deeply cut rich green foliage. Grevillea are normally somewhat xeric but Peaches and Cream has proven to be wonderfully tolerant of high humidity and average moist soils but will need little supplemental water once well-established in the garden or landscape. It also makes an easy, low-maintenance and forgiving container specimen that can be overwintered indoors where not hardy. The huge rounded clusters, to 8" or more wide, composed of rounded sterile florets open pink with a broad white picotee edging in alkaline to neutral soils and a blue with a white picotee edging in acidic soils that contain Aluminum. The blue and pink coloration deepens as the flowers mature. Flowering begins in spring to early summer and is produced on new growth allowing the plants to flower continuously into late summer and fall. Peter's Wonder Coleus, Painted Nettle

Coleus scuttelarioides 'Peters Wonder', Plectranthus scuttelarioides, Solenostemon scuttelarioides, C. blumei

The large, medium-textured, frilly edged, tropical foliage metamorphoses through shades of magenta and purple, pastel yellows, and pastel greens with a contrasting purplish-red reverse and stems. New growth emerges purple to magenta and in sunnier sites the colors tend to be brighter but may lean more toward pastel greens and yellows in shade. Peter's Wonder Coleus is a moderately vigorous upright to rounded growing, heat and shade tolerant cultivar that has long been popular for its unique coloration and texture. In hot summer climates consider providing part shade or shade during the heat of the day. Baptisia australis 'Pixie Periwinkle'

The dense spikes of light periwinkle blue to light lavender pea-like flowers are held above a compact rounded mound of gray green foliage and are produced in spring. Pixie Periwinkle Dwarf Blue False Indigo or Baptisia was selected for its small compact rounded form, early flowering, and unusual light blue to light lavender flower spikes. A selection of Baptisia australis discovered and introduced by David Leiderman of Hoffie Nursery and GET Group Inc. in 2009. The Baptisias or False Indigos are easy and low-maintenance, deer resistant, long-lived, taprooted perennials that produce more and more flowering spikes with each passing year with some plants producing over a 100 spikes on mature plants. Considered a must for the cutflower garden as the spikes have an excellent vase life. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in a soil with average or better drainage and moderate fertility. Plains Coreopsis, Golden Tickseed

Coreopsis tinctoria

The golden yellow petals of this Coreopsis are typically marked with red to near maroon at the base of the petals creating a nicely contrasting dark ring in the center of the flowers. Plains Coreopsis or Golden Tickseed is an annual to short-lived perennial native species with fine deep green foliage and an open airy texture to the plant overall. The flowers are borne singly and in loose clusters over an extended period with the main flowering in spring and summer but this species may be found in flower during any of the warmer months of the year. This native readily reseeds and makes a good addition to naturalized areas like meadows and prairies. The flowers attract a variety of pollinators including bees, seeds are utilized by songbirds and other fauna, and Plains Coreopsis is used as a cut flower. Tolerant of a wide range of soil types but generally prefers a moist soil. Item# 11621

Purple Smoke Baptisia, Wild Indigo

Baptisia x 'Purple Smoke'

Dark sturdy spikes are covered by smokey purple pea-shaped flowers with a darker purple eye in mid to late spring. Purple Smoke Baptisia can produce over 100 of the sturdy 2-3' high flowering stems once mature. An accidental hybrid of our native Baptisia alba and B. australis and one of the oldest cultivars on the market, it received top marks in the 2012-15 Baptisia Trials at Mount Cuba Center of 46 different cultivars, seemingly garnering the compact habit from B. australis and the smokey colored stems of B. alba. Baptisias are naturally durable, pest and disease resistant, long-lived perennials and could be considered the Lupine of the South. They make an excellent addition to a sunny perennial or cut-flower garden that is drought resistant, deer resistant, adaptable, easy, and long-lived. The Red Butterfly Ginger produces large deep reddish orange to red flowers that emerge from a darkened flower spike atop the sturdy stems of rich green smooth tropical looking foliage. It very much resembles the White Butterfly Ginger when in flower other than the flower color but has darker foliage a more compact habit. The Red Butterfly Ginger is one of the earliest gingers to flower in our collection. Provide a semi-shaded location where it receives shade during the hottest portion of the day although it is fairly tolerant. Ilex verticillata 'Red Sprite' (a.k.a. 'Nana', 'Compacta', 'Macrocarpa')

Extra large, reportedly to nearly 1/2" in diameter, brilliant red berries literally cover up this dwarf and compact deciduous shrub throughout much of winter and may last into spring. Red Sprite Dwarf Winterberry Holly, a.k.a 'Nana', 'Compacta, and 'Macrocarpa', is a USDA release that won the 2010 Holly of the Year Award from the Holly Society of America. This adaptable native shrub drops its foliage early to better show of its display of colorful berries. It can be used en masse to great effect, as a low informal hedge, or as a specimen plant near the front of the garden or landscape. Red Sprite is even small enough to enjoy as a medium-sized container plant. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in a moist acidic soil.
