Scarlet Flame Passion Flower, Passionvine

Passiflora 'Scarlet Flame'

Exotic 4-5" wide glowing scarlet flowers are produced from spring to fall on a this vigorous bronze leaved passion vine. The Scarlet Flame Passion is a more vigorous hybrid of Passiflora vitifolia x V. coccinea developed by Patrick Worley and it can become quite large, reaching 25' or more in a season. Cuphea schumanii, Parsonia schumanii

1-1/2" long, deep orange tubular flowers with lavender upper petals and exerted stamens give this cute Cuphea the 'batface' look and are produced throughout the warmer months of the year, or year round where winters are frost free. The flowers attract loads of hummingbirds and other long-tongued pollinators. Callistemon citrinus 'Semmes Hardy'

Large deep red bottlebrush-like flowers are produced at the ends of the arching stems in spring and sporadically through summer on large established plants. Semmes' Hardy Bottlebrush was selected as much for its cold hardiness (large well-established plants have increased cold hardiness over young tender plants) as for its habit and flowering potential. Bronze tinged new growth follows the flush of spring flowers that are sure to attract hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other garden beneficials. Semmes' Hardy Bottlebrush has a naturally compact and rounded 4-5' x 4-5' habit with somewhat arching evergreen branches. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in a well-drained soil for optimum vigor and flowering. This is a rare form of the El Capitolio Hibiscus and like its parent it is a vigorous, free flowering plant. The El Capitolio Hibiscus' have the potential to flower throughout the year under good conditions and with enough warmth and sunlight.The large flowers often have a streak of white and may even revert to single Hibiscus flowers during the short days of winter. Their unique form, flower size, vigor, and flower power all make the El Capitolio Hibiscus types some of our favorites for large tropical specimens. 6" wide rounded clusters of 1" wide deep blue-purple to dark purple trumpet shaped flowers are produced atop sturdy 3' high stalks in summer that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Though recent competition has increased when it comes to reliably cold hardy Agapanthus cultivars, Storm Cloud is still considered to be one of the most reliable, naturally winter dormant cultivars but it will benefit from a breathable mulch in any area that experiences freezing temperatures for extended periods. Somewhat drought resistant once well-established but generally prefers an average moist, fertile, well-drained soil in a full to mostly sunny site.
