One of the earliest large flowering Japonica Camellias to begin flowering, October Affair produces an abundance of perfectly formed, 3-4" wide, fully double flowers with cupped petals that are pure white at their center but with the outer rows of petals becoming tipped in light to rosy pink. Very large, semi-double to loose peony to anemone form to near rose form, rich red flowers, occasionally with some white on inner petaloids, and with occasional yellow tipped stamens peeking through are produced late in the season, March to April. Paulette Goddard Camellia is a large flowered Japonica with a moderate to vigorous, upright, densely branching habit becoming rounded with age. 3-5" green-yellow fruit with banana custard-like flavor, some say they are best after being frozen. Produces fragrant purple flowers in spring. A small native, normally understory tree, and is the caterpillar host plant of the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly. Seedling grown. Plant two different varieties or seedlings for pollination. Item# 786.

The perfectly formed, fully double medium pink flowers of this beauty are borne over a fairly long period in mid-late season (February-May). A dense and compact growing Camellia with rich glossy green foliage and an upright to rounded habit. Item# 9183.

The large medium-pink flowers vary between peony form with petaloids mixed among the boss of gold tipped stamens atop white filaments to semi-double showing off its gold tipped stamens atop the boss of white filaments and are produced in midseason or Dec-February. Pink Icicle Camellia was developed by Dr. William Ackerman for reliable cold hardiness into zone 6B and has withstood temperatures as low as 5-8^oF. This old and reliable favorite produces perfectly formed, fully double rich pink flowers over an extended period from November to May. A vigorous and dense upright to rounded evergreen shrub. Pink Perfection is an old favorite heirloom Camellia. Item# 9191.

Small to medium-sized, 3-4" wide, perfect or rose form, bright pink flowers are produced late in the season, March to April, which is unusual for a Sasanqua. Pink Princess Sasanqua Camellia is vigorous growing, large evergreen shrub with an initially upright habit and medium textured, deep green, glossy foliage. It should make a good choice for a hedge, screen, or specimen plant. The Sasanqua Camellias are much more tolerant of growing conditions than standard Japonica Camellias and can tolerate less than perfect soils and full sun to light shade conditions.  8-14" high pyramidal clusters of up to 40 pinkish-red ball-like buds open to yellow butterfly-like blooms, then fade to a deep orange and gold, and finally turning to a deep reddish-orange to red. The Pride of Barbados, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, is a large growing tropical to subtropical shrub to tender shrub-like perennial that makes a fantastic show throughout summer. Give it plenty of room and a well-drained, moderately fertile soil, preferably in full to mostly sunny site. Plant with caution as butterflies and hummingbirds will repeatedly attack the flowers. The 2-1/2" to 3" wide, rich watermelon pink, funnel-shaped flowers sport a contrasting deep red blotch on the upper most petals and are produced in midspring on this highly popular old cultivar. Pride of Mobile Azalea, a.k.a. Elegans Superba or Watermelon, is a vigorous heirloom Southern Indica evergreen azalea with an initially upright habit to about 6-8'(-10') and wide. Its vigorous habit lend this large growing evergreen azalea to use as an informal hedge, specimen plant, and as a spring flowering backdrop for mixed perennial gardens as well as in the landscape. Azaleas do best in average moist, acidic soils that are rich in organic matter but have good to excellent drainage and should be top dressed with an organic mulch such as pine straw and pine bark. We recommend using a slow-release, non-burning fertilizer that is labeled for acidic loving plants. Azalea flowers attract a variety of pollinators including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Masses of lightly fragrant, white, double starry flowers accented with a touch of rose pink on the outer petals are produced in mid to late spring to early summer nearly covering up this easy to grow heirloom. The Pride of Rochester Fuzzy Deutzia, a selection of Deutzia scabra or sometimes D. crenata, is an easy to grow and low maitenance medium to large growing deciduous shrub with a fountaining habit growing to about 6-10' high and wide. It gets nice yellow fall color even here in the southern US and has reddish to orange exfoliating bark adding to its interest in winter. The Fuzzy Deutzia is moderately drought resistant once fully established and seems to be fairly pest and disease resistant when grown in well-drained soils. Medium-sized, bright cherry red, formal double flowers, occasionally with lighter markings on inner petals, are produced in midseason, January to February. Prince Eugene Napoleon Camellia is an heirloom, large flowered Japonica with a moderate rate of growth and an upright to rounded, densely branching habit and glossy, medium green foliage. You can nearly always tell how popular the heirloom Camellias are and were by the number of synonyms they've amassed over the years and this one has long been a favorite as you can see here: Pope Pius IX, Rosedale Beauty, Ladiner's Red, Mrs. Harry Davis, Imbricata Rubra Plena, Queen of Denmark, Flore Plena Atrorubens, Rubra Plena Imbricata, Conte de Name, and Venus de Medicis. Provide Camellias with a fertile soil rich in organic matter, with average moisture, and an organic mulch. An old and reliable favorite, Professor Charles S. Sargent Camellia produces dense rounded flowers that are simply packed with the dark red petals over an extended period from as early as late November to May. A vigorous and dense upright to rounded evergreen shrub. Item# 9195.

Beautiful dark purplish-red with a purplish tinge to the outer edges of the petals. Large formal double blooms to 5 inches across. Blooms winter to early spring. A reliable and easily grown Camellia. 'Purple Dawn', as it is offered locally, is considered to be actually 'Mathotiana' and it also known as: Julia Drayton, Mathotiana Rubra, Purple Emperor, Purple Prince, and William S. The nearly 1" wide creamy white starry spring flowers are streaked with pink and are soon followed by glossy deep purple new growth that matures to deep green. The Purple Glaze® Japanese Anise Shrub, Illicium anisatum 'Murasaki-no-sato', is a shade tolerant medium-sized to large growing evergreen shrub with a slow to medium rate of growth and naturally has an upright to rounded habit. It is somewhat resistant to short periods of drought once well-established and should be grown in a site with good drainage and average moist to moist soils in an area that receives shade during the hottest part of the day, especially in hot summer climates. Anise flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Not a spice plant. Item# 12003

The large to very large, deep coral pink flowers are centered by a boss of contrasting yellow stamens and the flowers are randomly flecked and splashed with white and are produced in early to midseason or December to March. Large clusters of deep red, miniature roses are produced beginning in spring and continuing into fall on this vigorous and disease resistant climber. Red Cascade Climbing Rose is a moderately vigorous and disease resistant, climbing or rambling rose perfectly suited for training along a fence, up an 8-12' arbor or other sturdy support, allow it to spill over an embankment, or utilize it as an informal groundcover. It is cloaked in deep green fine textured, deep green foliage. Red Cascade was developed by the "Father of the Modern Miniature Rose" Ralph Moore of Visalia, California and was introduced in 1976. Brilliant crimson red bottlebrush-like flowers are produced in summer often into fall to potentially year-round under warm tropical conditions and attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Red Clusters Bottlebrush, a selection of Callistemon viminalis, is a vigorous freely flowering, naturally evergreen large shrub that can also be trained into a small tree form that matures to about 12' high by about 8' wide. In zone 8, the foliage may drop after hard freezes potentially reducing flowering and so this cultivar may be best grow in warmer winter climates like zones 9 and 10. They can also be enjoyed as container plants where not reliably hardy. Provide Bottlebrush with a full to mostly sunny site in an average to well-draining, fertile soil and they are moderately drought resistant once fully established. Item# 603
