An unusual Camellia discovered in the gardens of the late K. Sawada, the large mahogany red, peony form flowers have darker mahogany red overtones with occasional white tipped and flecked petals. As per Bobby Green the flower show starts in fall and lasts throughout the typical Camellia flowering season. The flowers are long lasting and are considered show quality. Item# 10845

An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner! Medium to large, lightly fragrant, loose peony form to semi-double, medium silvery-pink flowers with a boss of yellow stamens are produced in early to midseason, November to February. The pollen laden and fragrant flowers are likely to attract bees and other pollinators on warmer days. Scentsation Camellia is a large type Japonica with a moderate to vigorous, densely branching, upright to rounded habit. Sea Foam is one of the most beautiful and vigorous white Camellia Japonica hybrids of the last 100 years producing medium to large pure white, fully double, perfect form Camellias with elegantly cupped petals in mid to late season. Large, 4-5" wide, fragrant, semi-double flowers of the purist white with wavy petals and a contrasting boss of golden yellow stamens shine like spotlights against the foil of deep green glossy foliage. Flowering begins early in the season in October continuing into December, with a few flowers into early January. Setsugekka Sasanqua Camellia has a vigorous moderately upright habit that rounds out with at maturity. This dense foliage of this large evergreen shrub lend it to use as a specimen, screen, hedge, or even a small evergreen tree form. The Sasanqua Camellias are tolerant of full sun to part sun conditions. Large to very large pure white flowers are composed of a row of overlapping wide petals that look as though someone tucked an anemone form flower neatly in its center. This variety has larger and more double flowers than many other Sasanquas. A very profuse bloomer over a long period in fall with beautiful clear-pink blossoms that are held against the deep rich green glossy foliage. An unusually pure white selection of Vitex. Silver Spires produces medium sized spikes of white flowers that are held against the dark blue-green fragrant foliage. Clusters of white spring flowers are followed by green berries that slowly change through pink, to blue, and to near black once mature. The glossy, bronze-tinged, medium green, deciduous foliage of the Withe-rod Viburnum produces fall color in red and purple tones. This is an upright to rounded, medium-sized native shrub commonly found near wet areas. Considered by some to have the best tasting fruit of our native Viburnums giving it the name of Wild Raisin. The large to very large, pure white anemone form flowers, sometimes with a few yellow stamens peaking out from between the central boss of petaloids and are produced in early to midseason or Nov-February. Snow Chan Camellia, a sport of Shiro Chan which is itself a sport of Elegans, and each of these varieties tend to have a slower rate of growth and a more open habit with large deep green foliage lacily edged with large prominent teeth. A U.S. National Arboretum introduction, Sparkleberry Holly was selected for its ability to produce a dramatic, long-lasting display of deep glowing red berries in dense clusters that seemingly cover the generally upright to arching stems of this vigorous deciduous holly. Masses of tiny greenish white spring flowers are soon followed by small round fruit that ripen to a deep, clear red. In fall the foliage turns to yellow and is quickly shed to display the bare stems adorned with massive clusters of brilliantly colored berries that can remain well into spring. Item# 10723.

Dainty, nectar-rich, late winter to midspring, greenish white flowers are followed by sweet, clear orange, 3/8" diameter berries with a flavor reminiscent of cantaloupe ripen in fall. Like all of our native Hackberry species, the Spiny Hackberry, Celtis pallida or C. ehrenbergiana, is an important host plant for the Hackberry butterflies (American Snout, Cuban Snout, Empress Leilia, Dusky Emperor, Tawny Emperor, Hackberry Emperor, etc...) as well as the Red-Bordered Metalmark. The ripe fruit are devoured by a variety of birds and other wildlife. Human nibblers should be aware that the fruit does contain a large pit. The Spiny or Desert Hackberry develops into a large shrub or small tree that seems to prefer average moist soils but as the name implies it is quite drought tolerant once well-established. Large clusters of large fragrant soft rosy pink double flowers, often with one or more petals streaked or flecked with white, are born over a long period on this reliable old favorite. Mrs. Isadore Dyer is considered one of the first Oleanders to make its way to Galveston island, the Oleander capital city of the US. According to one of the grandchildren of Mrs. Isadore Dyer, their grandmother smuggled the original plants to Galveston Island from Jamaica. This is a large, vigorous, and reliable Oleander. Masses of 2-¹/₂ to 3" wide semi-double rose pink flowers seemingly cover up the plants in February-March and are centered by a boss of yellow stamens atop white filaments. Sweetly fragrant spikes of tiny white flowers are produced from spring to fall on this little known but easy to grow and tough deciduous shrub. Its intensely fragrant flowers attract a host of pollinators and it is considered to be an especially good honey plant. Sweet Almond Verbena, a 2008 Florida Plant of the Year, is a vigorous and pest free, heat and sun loving loving large shrub to small tree.
