Neatly formed, small to medium-sized, bell-shaped, red to coral-red flowers centered by a boss of contrasting gold tipped stamens on white filaments are produced over an extended period from early to midseason and are held against a foil of deep green, glossy, medium-textured foliage. Freedom Bell Camellia is classified as a non-Reticulata hybrid with Sasanqua-like foliage and is a vigorous growing, large evergreen shrub with a naturally upright, densely branching habit that rounds out with maturity. Gigantea is truly one of our favorites. The deep red and contrasting pure white flowers are each uniquely variegated and can range from nearly solid red to pure white and the variegation of each flower can consist of splashes, to flecks, to half red/half white flowers. Medium-sized, formal double flowers are pale pink blushing to white at the outer edges and may or may not show darker pink variegation with flowering occurring in mid to late season, January to April. The light colored flowers are held against a foil of deep green foliage. Medium-sized fragrant double medium pink roses are produced throughout the growing season on this vigorous and disease resistant 'found rose' discovered and introduced by Barbara Worl. Grandmother's Hat Rose, and it has several other names which is often typical of roses that are highly regarded, is vigorous enough to be trained into a 12'H climber or it can also be maintained as a large shrub rose by heading back the larger growing canes. Provide a full to mostly sunny site in a rich fertile soil for optimum vigor and flower production. Item# 11799

The small to medium-sized single flowers can range from red tinged to lavender often with purple veining and are centered by a large boss of contrasting yellow tipped white filaments and are produce late in mid to late season or March-April. Flower color tends to be the most purple where soils are strongly acidic and this seems to be fairly common for purple flowered Camellias. A Camellia Hall of Fame Award winner! Huge, brilliant glowing red double flowers with a boss of bright golden stamens are an absolute standout in the garden. Guilio Nuccio Camellia is a vigorous growing upright to rounded evergreen shrub with larger than normal, healthy rich deep green foliage. Prefers a humus rich acidic soil and will need moderate moisture until well established. Item# 9143

Large dense branched pannicles to 12" x 12" are composed of multitudes of small pale purple tubular flowers are produced over an extended period through much of summer and attract a variety of pollinators including smaller shorter tongued bees like Honeybees as well as larger native bees like Bumblebees. The large palmate foliage of Hempleaf Vitex resembles that of the Hemp plant and thus the specific epithet of "cannibifolia". Like its close cousin the Chaste Tree, Vitex agnus-castus, the Hempleaf Vitex, Vitex negundo var. cannibofolia, is an easy to grow sun and heat loving deciduous shrub that prefers an average to well-drained soil. It appears to have few pests or disease issues and is unlikely to be bothered by deer. Item# 11879

This heirloom produces fragrant, medium to large, semi-double to loose peony form, rosy-pink to salmon-pink flowers edged in a broad white band and are randomly streaked with deep red. The mid to late season flowers, January to April, may be centered by a large boss of gold stamens atop white filaments and attract bees and other pollinators. Wonderfully fragrant, sometimes compared to Jasmine, Sweet Peas, and Rose, medium to large, pale to medium pink, peony form flowers are born in mid to late season (typically March-April). High Fragrance is a vigorous growing Camellia with a strongly upright to open habit that lends itself to tree forms. Flowers may not produce fragrance until the second day after opening. While the High Fragrance Camellia is considered to be hardy to zone 7, we find that the flower buds are cold sensitive and can be frozen at 10-15^oF making this cultivar better suited to zones 8B and warmer or grow it as a container plant where not hardy. Small, semi-double, crimson red to rose red flowers with wavy and twisty inner petals, and may have white spots, are centered by a boss of contrasting gold stamens atop white filaments. Flowers are produced early in the season, October to December, attracting bees and other pollinators. Hiryu Sasanqua Camellia, a Camellia x vernalis hybrid, is a vigorous growing heirloom Sasanqua with an upright, well-branched, spreading habit and medium-textured small, dark green, glossy foliage that can exceed 12' high at maturity. Its vigor lends it to use as a screen, hedge, or specimen plant as well as tree forms. The Sasanqua Camellias are much more tolerant of growing conditions than standard Japonica Camellias and can tolerate less than perfect soils and full sun to light shade conditions. The large, double pink, carnation-like flowers are produced in great abundance all summer long on this easily grown deciduous shrub. The Rose of Sharon, a cold hardy shrubby Hibiscus species, has a naturally vase shaped habit when young but becomes rounded and full with age and it can also be trained into a tree form with careful pruning. These heirloom pass-a-long plants are quite tolerant of most well-drained, fertile soils in sunny sites and are resistant to periodic, short term drought once well-established. Jimmy's Double Pink Althea or Rose of Sharon is a much loved plant that came to us via John's mother's prized Althea bush when Jimmy, their 4 year old son, picked his mother, Bonnie, a flower and she rooted the cutting some 40 years ago and it still graces our gardens to this day. The flowers, even though double, attract bees, hummingbirds and the occassional butterfly. Caterpillar host: Gray hairstreak. Item# 810

The medium sized anemone form flowers are composed of a row of white outer petals centered by pale yellowish petaloids interspersed with golden stamens helping to create the yellow effect that has long been sought after in Camellias and this was one of the earliest hybrids to display it. Jury's Yellow Camellia is a long flowering hybrid that begins early in the season and continues into late season.  This is a moderately vigorous 'x williamsii' hybrid with an upright to rounded habit and dense branching growth habit. Use this large evergreen shrub as a specimen in the garden and landscape or as a container plant. Camellias prefer a moist to average moist well-drained loamy to sandy acidic soil with a deep organic mulch. Item# 11665
