The Chickasaw Plum, Prunus angustifolia, is widely distributed throughout the south central and southeastern portion of the US and is typically found on well-draining sandy sites although it is considered to be fairly adaptable even in clay soils. Fruit quality varies from tree to tree with some fruits being tart to sweet while that on other trees may be bitter and typically ripens in early to midsummer. Chinese Snowball Bush

Viburnum macrocephalum sterile

Huge, rounded, white Hydrangea-like flowers are borne in early spring and last for several weeks. The color show starts with small rounded clusters of apple-green buds and so the Chinese Snowball Bush entertains us for weeks in anticipation of spring. Mature plants will often produce flowers in late summer as well although the best show is typically in spring. These are easy to grow large shrubs with a medium to fast rate of growth and a naturally upright to vase shaped habit when young eventually growing as wide as high once mature. Chinese Snowball Bush was selected as a 2006 Georgia Gold Medal Winner! The huge flowers make excellent long lasting cut flowers for a vase as well. Item# 10362.

The Cityline® Paris Hydrangea produces deep rose colored mopheads (in alkaline soils) on compact plants with glossy disease-resistant foliage. The flowers (actually the large sterile florets) emerge with creamy centers edged in dark rose and mature to rich pink. Its exceptionally compact and well-branched habit lends this mophead Hydrangea to use as a container plant or near the front of the garden and landscape. In acid soils the flowers will lean toward rich blue to purple hues. Image courtesy of Proven Winners, www.provenwinners.com. Item# 11434

Climbing Aster, Carolina Climbing Aster

Ampelaster carolinianus, Aster carolinianus, Symphyotrichum carolinianum, Virgulus carolinianus

Masses of 1"+ wide light purplish pink fragrant daisies with bright yellow centers are produced over several weeks beginning in late summer and fall adorn the climbing and arching stems of this unusual native perennial. The Climbing Aster, Ampelaster carolinianus, is an easy to grow small, vine-like, clump forming native perennial found in moist sites mainly in Florida but also in South Carolina, Georgia, and Mississippi and maybe extirpated (extinct in that area) in North Carolina. Even though it is found in moist areas it does quite well in average moist, well-drained soils and prefers a full to mostly sunny site for optimum vigor and flowering. The climbing stems are deciduous in areas that experience hard freezes but readily regrow each spring. In mild winter regions, like its native Florida, it may remain evergreen flowering much of the year on the previous year's growth. The flowers attract a variety of pollinators including bees, butterflies, and other garden beneficials. Item# 12350

The large rounded clusters of deep red-orange trumpet shaped flowers with a starkly contrasting sunny yellow throat are produced between early winter and midspring and are held atop sturdy dark green stems above and among the glossy, dark green, wide arching foliage. The Clivia or Kaffir Lily, Clivia miniata, is an easy to grow tropical, naturally evergreen, shade loving, clump-forming herbaceous perennial that readily adapts to being grown indoors over winter where it should be allowed to become moderately dry between waterings. This 6-8 week dry period in fall and winter along with temperatures below about 50oF are required to induce bud and flower development on mature plants for winter and spring flowering. Water them too much in winter and it may be at the expense of flowers but they readily wilt to let you know when water is needed and soon straighten back up once moisture is available. Provide the Clivia with a well-drained, fertile, average moist soil and a spot out of direct sunlight for optimum vigor and flowering. There neat dark green foliage offers a tropical look even when not in flower and they could easily be grown for the foliage alone. Item# 12444

Colorwheel Stokesia Daisy, Stoke's Aster

Stokesia laevis 'Colorwheel' PP12718

Constance Elliot Passion Flower, Passion Vine

Passiflora caerulea 'Constance Elliot'

An old and reliable favorite, Constance Elliot Passion Flower produces solid white flowers that shine brightly against the deep green to blue-green foliage.  This is a vigorous growing tropical vine and can easily reach 20' once well-established. This is also one of the most reliably cold hardy Passionvines with foliage remaining evergreen in the mildest 8B winters but dying back to the ground in severe winters and returning readily in spring.
