Amelia Rose Evergreen Azalea is a Dr. Eugene Aromi hybrid with a vigorous upright to rounded habit and a long season of flowering. It will eventually build into a 6' x 6' medium-sized shrub. Azaleas do best in average moist, acidic soils that are rich in organic matter but have good to excellent drainage and should be top dressed with an organic mulch such as pine straw and pine bark. The large rounded, thick, tough, blue-green to deep olive green, evergreen foliage is long-lived and as the name suggests you can sign your name on a young leaf and watch it grow as the leaf expands. The Autograph Tree, Clusia rosea, is an upright growing tropical to subtropical tree from the Caribbean and southern Florida that produces white to pink, 2-3 inch wide, waxy flowers that open at night and may last into morning on overcast days and are followed by 2-3" diameter green fruits that eventually fall and split open to reveal bright red-orange seeds that attract birds. Although this is a tropical tree it can easily be maintained as container shrub with pruning. Provide full sun to part sun in a well-drained, average moist soil. The sweet dark figs of Mission are the number one favorite for drying. Mission is one of the most widely grown figs in California producing heavy crops of medium to large dark purplish-black pear-shaped fruit with a rich, sweet strawberry red pulp. The 2-3" wide dark eyed daisies are composed of deep golden yellow rays that surround the dark brown to black cones are produced in late spring to summer (depending on your zone). The Black-Eyed Susan is an annual - atleast in our area, biennial, to short-lived perennial with dark green hairy foliage that adorns well-branched plants and each plant can produce 20-30 or more flowers. This is a widespread species found along roadsides, meadows and prairies, savannas, and in open Longleaf Pine forests mainly in soils with average or better drainage.
