The common name Muck Sunflower somehow seems less than up to the task for a plant that has the potential to provide such a brilliant show of color that begins in late summer and lasts into fall. Loose clusters of 2-3" wide brilliant golden yellow sunflowers are poised on tall stems adorned with rich deep green lance-shape foliage. Depending on moisture levels and fertility this vigorous, native, perennial, fall sunflower may reach up to 8' high. To create fuller, sturdier, and shorter plants tip the Muck Sunflower in late spring. A single tip pruning in late spring will keep them fuller and bushier as well as causing them to produce more flowers than vertical growth. Our plants are seedling grown and originated from a collection in southwestern Louisiana. Item# 10872.

Negronne Fig, Violette de Bourdeaux Fig

Ficus carica 'Negronne'

The rich, sweet acidic flavor of Negronne is delectable and nearly unmistakable. It produces small to medium sized, dark purplish black, pear shaped to turbinate figs with a deep red pulp and amber flesh. The small eye is closed making it resistant to spoiling and splitting. The ripe fruit is superb fresh but can be dried or preserved as well. Negronne may produce a breba crop in mild climates and is an excellent choice for all fig growing regions with excellent cold hardiness. Omega Skyrocket Stokesia Daisy, Stoke's Aster

Stokesia laevis 'Omega Skyrocket'

A giant among Stokesias, Omega Skyrocket can reach heights of 3-4' when in flower and still produces the same large cornflower blue daisies typical of the species beginning in late spring with an extended flowering season that can continue into mid and late summer on well-established plants. Omega Skyrocket Stokesia was discovered by Ozzie Johnson and Ron Determann of the Atlanta Botanical Garden in Omega, Georgia in the1990s. Stoke's Aster comes highly recommended and it's easy to see why with moderate drought resistance, few pest or disease problems, deer and rabbit resistance and it revels in the heat and sun of our southern summers. The Orange Cape Honeysuckle is an easy heat and sun loving tropical that can be grown as a medium to large arching shrub or hedge, vine or espalier, and can be trained into tree standards. Peaches and Cream Grevillea, Hybrid Australian Silk Oak

Grevillea 'Peaches and Cream' PP18035

The large conical spikes are composed of tubular flowers that curl around curiously at their tips open a pastel creamy yellow and mature to a peachy pink and orange are produced nearly year round attracting both hummingbirds and bees. At maturity the red tipped styles spring open providing additional contrast and creating a bottlebrush-like display. Peaches and Cream Grevillea is a compact well-branched medium-sized heat and sunloving evergreen shrub that is cloaked in medium-textured deeply cut rich green foliage. Grevillea are normally somewhat xeric but Peaches and Cream has proven to be wonderfully tolerant of high humidity and average moist soils but will need little supplemental water once well-established in the garden or landscape.
