A streak of clear bright white adorns the starkly contrasting brilliant true red flowers of this compact China Rose. Chi Long Han Zhu Rose, which roughly translates to White Pearl in Red Dragon's Mouth, is an easy to grow heirloom garden rose and was among the first repeat flowering roses exported out of China. A densely branching shrub rose with red to bronze new growth with good disease resistance and excellent flower power. Chi Long Han Zhu can flower for 10-12 months a year and in the coldest winters it may take a brief respite only to show off again in mild winter weather. Compact enough for container culture and smaller garden settings it can still hold its own in the garden, mixed perennial border, and landscape. Item# 11701

White Showers Mexican Petunia, Desert Petunia, Florida Bluebells, Mexican Bluebells

Ruellia brittoniana 'White Showers', R. simplex, R. tweediana

The pure white trumpets are born freely from summer to fall on upright to arching plant with darkly contrasting burgundy stems and deep bronzy green glossy foliage. White Showers Mexican Petunia is a white sport of the sterile Purple Showers allowing the plants to spend more energy on an endless supply of white trumpets instead of adding unwanted seedlings to the garden. It does spread via rhizomes creating a tall, weed smothering, ground-covering mass of foliage and stems. This wonderful and vigorous selection produces slightly larger flowers and foliage than most other Mexican Petunias. Item# 10834

Moving the limits of the Bottlebrush northward, Woodlander's Hardy will tolerate even zone 7 winters. With a moderately dense and compact habit and narrow blue-green foliage this semi-dwarf bottlebrush produces clusters of the deep red bottle-brush like flowers in spring. A beautiful clear yellow Cape Honeysuckle that produces masses of 2" tubular flowers in large clusters in summer and fall or nearly continuously throughout the year under frost free conditions. This easy heat and sun loving tropical can be grown as a medium to large arching shrub or hedge, vine or espalier, and can be trained into tree standards. The tubular flowers are a treat for hummingbirds and larger butterflies. Where not hardy it is easily maintained as a container plant. Item# 746.

A rare or uncommon color form of the common Red Shrimp Plant, the Yellow Queen Shrimp Plant produces a continuous display of upright to arching spikes composed of large showy light yellow to chartreuse colored bracts from which the individual white tubular flowers emerge in spring and summer to year round under warm tropical conditions. It displays the same habit and exceptional flower power of its maroon-red bracted cousin making a beautiful display as a container plant specimen and in mixed container gardens as well as in the garden and landscape. The common Shrimp Plant, Justicia brandeegeana, seems to be happiest where it has some respite from hot midday sun in hot summer climates. Provide an average to well-drained, moderately fertile, average moist soil for optimum vigor and flowering. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies and is an RHS Award of Garden Merit winner.
