Honorine Jobert Anemone, Windflower, Japanese Anemone

Anemone x hybrida 'Honorine Jobert'

Perennial of the Year in 2016, Missouri Botanic Gardens Plant of Merit, and a RHS Award of Garden Merit winner! As per Allan Armitage's Herbaceous Perennial Plants, 4th Edition "It has graced European gardens since the beginning of the American Civil War and is still the most popular and highly sought after white anemone today.". The clusters of 2-3" wide, pure white, upward facing flowers with yellow eyes are held high above the mass of deep green foliage on sturdy wiry, 3-4' high stems in fall. The flowers of this easy heirloom attract bees and other pollinators. Honorine Jobert Anemone is an easy to grow, clump forming, slowly spreading, shade tolerant perennial whose mass of 12" high, medium textured, deep green, Astilbe-like foliage makes a nice accent or groundcover even when the plants are not in flower. Anemones make good companions for spring flowering bulbs. Tough, easy, and reliable. Tolerant of *full sun in cool summer climates, elsewhere provide midday and afternoon shade or filtered shade. Provide an average moist, well-drained, fertile soil for optimum flowering and vigor. Images courtesy of Walter's Gardens, Inc., all rights reserved. Item# 12778

Hanging clusters of buttery yellow fragrant flowers that are centered by a purple to burgundy star-shaped corona are produced during the warmer months of the year. Hoya cumingiana, or Paluki in its native Phillipines, is somewhat of a sprawling shrub-like Hoya with closely stacked small rounded glossy medium green foliage that may be at its best when trained to a support like a small trellis. Its foliage is nice enough that it could be grown for its architectural form with the flowers simply as a bonus. This is considered to be one of the easier to grow shrub-like Hoyas that mainly needs to be allowed to dry out somewhat between waterings. The fragrant flowers are likely to draw butterflies and other pollinators. Its ease of growth, unusual looking foliage, and fragrant flowers make this Hoya one of the more sought after species. Illumination™ Flame Digiplexis

Digitalis hybrid ‘DG 09/4’ PP25442

Award winning flower power! Tall dense spikes of fuchsia to red foxglove flowers with contrasting orange, pale yellow, to cream colored throats that are overlaid with dark flecking and are produced from mid to late spring until fall attracting hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators. Illumination™ Flame Digiplexis was the first of these now highly popular cross-generic hybrids between the tropical Canary Island Isoplexis (now classified as a Digitalis) and Digitalis purpurea producing a vigorous exceptionally free flowering hybrid. This is a rosette forming perennial with large medium-green quilted foliage that is resistant to rust and other foliar diseases common to typical Foxgloves. These new longer flowering hybrids can be added to the garden and landscape but also make showy container specimens. Illumination™ Flame Digiplexis is considered hardy in zone 8B-10, in colder climates it makes a worthy annual or it can be overwintered in a cool, brightly lit area preferably with direct sunlight. The bare winter stems are adorned with bright sunny yellow flowers in late winter and early spring attracting mainly bees as pollinators. Once the flowering season is finished this beautiful shrub is adorned with gold, yellow and deep green variegated foliage providing color until autumn when the foliage takes on purple tones until it falls away. The Dwarf Golden Variegated Korean Forsythia was first shared with us by the late great nurseryman Sherwood Aikens of Minden, Louisiana and after much research we believe this to be Forsythia viridissima var. koreana 'Ilwang'. We have also selected the cultivar Solid Gold with solid yellow foliage. This is an easy to grow, low maintenance, compact growing deciduous shrub with an arching, fountaining habit growing wider than tall and maxing out at about 3'H x 3-4'W. Its golden foliage can tolerate full sun but may lighten to cream and yellow but this does not appear to affect the plant's vigor it. Provide a fertile soil with average or better drainage and average moisture. Large clusters of light and medium coral and apricot colored flowers with a yellow 'throat' and contrasting dark flecks on these same three inner petals and sit atop sturdy 8-12" high stems that are produced from late spring or early summer into fall attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Clusters of starry, pure white flowers with red-purple 'eyes' may be produced throughout the year on well grown, well-established plants and are likely to attract hummingbird moths with their light perfume. Iris Marie Hoya, a hybrid cultivar, is a scandent shrub-like tropical that produces upright stems that eventually arch once they are too large and heavy for the stems to maintain upright or they can be trained to a support. The large ovate deep green glossy foliage is pretty enough on its own to make this easy and vigorous Hoya a worthy house plant.
