This ginger's sweetly fragrant flowers attract larger butterflies like Swallowtails and Giant Sulphurs. The Disney form of the Scarlet Ginger is one of the more compact and erect growing forms of this species. Disney is also known as the Honduras Form and as the Orange Brush Ginger. As with most Hedychiums provide a partly shaded area to full sun, in an average moist, fertile, well-drained soil. A loosely double Tropical Hibiscus with large deep red flowers that are borne in abundance practically throughout the year. This is a fairly full and compact growing hibiscus that lends itself to containers and tropical garden settings. The Double Red Hibiscus is considered to be one of the first cultivated Chinese Hibiscus,Hibiscus rosa-sinensis,the latter of which translates to the 'rose of China' or 'Chinese rose'. Interestingly, like we've seen other double flowered Hibiscus do, flowers produced during winter can be single, though when the days lengthen the plant goes back to producing the typical double flowers again. Fragrant peachy orange butterfly-shaped lightly fragrant flowers are produced in large spikes in summer atop tall sturdy stems adorned with heavily variegated white and green tropical looking foliage. Small clusters of 2-3" wide brilliant golden yellow trumpet shaped flowers are produced throughout the growing season to potentially year-round under warm tropical conditions and are mainly butterfly pollinated but also attract bees and other pollinators. The Dwarf Allamanda, Allamanda cathartica 'Compacta', is a small, naturally evergreen, tropical shrub growing to 2-3'H x 2-3'W and potentially slightly larger with age. The stems are adorned with whorls of glossy narrow foliage to about 3" long. This is an easy to grow, heat and sunloving tropical with good to excellent flower power and makes an easy container plant that is sure to add a tropical flair to any sunny garden setting. For optimum vigor and flowering provide the Dwarf Allamanda with a full sun to partly shaded location in a fertile, well-drained soil. It is important to allow the soil to become somewhat dry between waterings and the hotter it is generally the happier they are and will sulk under cool (below about 55-60oF) and wet conditions.
