Hanging clusters of small individual flowers are centered by waxy yellow, star-shaped coronas with a creamy white to pink tinged halo and recurving fuzzy corollas are produced during the growing season. Hoya obscura is one of the more vigorous and easier to grow vining waxflowers that is well-suited to hanging basket culture or give it a trellis or other support for its twining vines to climb. The major leaf veins are fairly prominent in this species even from the upperside of the medium green foliage and under cool direct sunlight the foliage can become more olive green and may even take on red tones. To some the flowers have a light fragrance and it may be most noticeable at night or very early in the day. Rich pink 2" tubular flowers emerge from the dark colored bracts of this free flowering tropical perennial from late spring to fall. The large dark green tropical foliage acts as a wonderful foil for the pinecone shaped flowers. Imperial Blue Plumbago produces large clusters of deep sky blue flowers from early summer until fall. Plumbago is a heat, sun, and drought tolerant tropical or tender perennial that makes a great addition to container gardens or it is often found growing as a groundcover, hedge, tree form, and espaliered on fences in mild winter climates. The dense crown of dark purple filaments are held against a wonderfully contrasting foil of white to pale lavender petals and sepals on the 3-4" wide wonderfully fragrant flowers. Indigo Dream Passionflower, a Patrick Worley and Rick McCain hybrid with Incense in its parentage, is a moderately vigorous, naturally evergreen tropical vine that clings to supports via tendrils and makes an easy summer climber for medium to large trellises, arbors, or allow it to trail along a fence. The large rounded to elongated foliage emerges pink to magenta and the mature pinkish-purple vines are adorned with thick waxy foliage that is narrowly to broadly edged in creamy white. An exceptionally free flowering passionvine, Lady Lavender produces 3-4" wide, lightly fragrant flowers with purple sepals and petals that fade to near white near their base.
