A Texas Superstar® selection! The large pyramidal to domed clusters of dark-eyed, light pink, lightly fragrant flowers are produced atop tall sturdy stems in summer and potentially into fall attracting mainly butterflies. John Fanick Garden Phlox, a selection of Phlox paniculata, is a disease resistant, clump forming, upright growing, herbaceous, native perennial growing to about 3' high and 1-2' wide. Garden Phlox will do best in an open, full sun to partially shaded site, with a well-draining, rich and fertile, acidic soil with average moisture and an organic mulch is highly recommended. John Fanick is one of the few disease resistant Garden Phlox recommended for the hot and humid south by Texas Horticulturist and author Greg Grant. Item# 10267

The fragrant 2" wide starry single white flowers of Kleim's Hardy Gardenia are born in mid to late spring and early summer. This is an exceptionally cold hardy Gardenia that develops into a compact evergreen, rounded shrub to 2-3' high and wide that is well suited to container culture as well as in the ground. For the best results provide your Gardenias with a well-draining, humus rich, fertile, acid soil. Item# 3094.

Clusters of dark pink to red buds open to highly fragrant white flowers in mid and late spring. The flowers may be followed by 1/4" red fruit that ripens to black. The Korean Spice Viburnum is a medium-sized semi-evergreen to deciduous shrub with deep bluish-green foliage with a whitish reverse that changes into shades of brilliant red and purple in fall. Very fragrant, single, rich rosy pink flowers are centered by a boss of yellow tipped stamens atop white filaments and are produced over an extended period beginning in early season and continuing into midseason, November to January. The headily fragrant pollen laden flowers are sure to attract bees and other pollinators. Koto-No-Kaori Camellia is a C. lutchuensis hybrid with a moderate to vigorous upright, semi-open habit and medium to deep green foliage. The name aptly translates to 'Perfume of the Ancient Capital'. Provide Camellias with a fertile soil rich in organic matter, with average moisture, and an organic mulch. Item# 13232

An old favorite noted for its light fragrance and large deep red double peony form flowers occasionally displaying contrasting gold stamens amongst the petals with flowering occuring in mid-late season or January to April. Kramer's Supreme Camellia is a Large Flowered Japonica type with a vigorous growth rate and an initially upright habit that rounds out with maturity eventually developing in an 8-12' high and 6-8' wide large evergreen shrub cloaked in deep green glossy foliage. Intense true red 1" long tubular flowers adorn dense 12-24" high spikes atop the gray green fragrant foliage of this dwarf Agastache beginning in spring and continuing well into fall. Kudos™ Red Dwarf Hummingbird Mint is a true hummingbird magnet and the compact habit of this Agastache lends it to use in containers where you can draw these aerial acrobats for up close viewing as well as in the garden and landscape. Widely flaring white, up to 2" wide flowers are borne from spring through fall with flowers appearing in greatest abundance after rains. With arching to upright narrow strap-like foliage and excellent durability rainlilies make a good choice for the front of the perennial border. Use them in mass plantings to great effect. Multiplies readily and often readily reseed. Tolerant of sun or shade and wet or dry although the best flowering is likely to occur with a sunnier location. Item# 10934.

The large, 3-4" wide, raspberry red flowers are centered by a corolla of raspberry red filaments that fade to bright white at the center. Lady Margaret Passionflower is a prolific flowering hybrid that is a showoff throughout the year in frost free conditions. The fuzzy foliage and stems are utilized by Gulf Fritillary, Julia Butterfly, Variegated Fritillary, and Zebra Longwing butterfly caterpillars. Clusters of 2" white flowers that are held on long slender tubes release their heady perfume at night, but a curious nose may find fragrance almost any time of day. The Lady of the Night is considered by many to be the most fragrant of all of the Brunfelsias. An upright to vase-shaped tropical shrub with glossy dark green foliage. Grow in containers and overwinter indoors where not hardy. Item# 9617.

Considered by many to have some of the largest flowers among the Brunfelsia's, this Lady of the Night produces clusters of wavy edged, creamy white flowers that are borne on long tubes. The fragrance is released late in the day and into early morning and is sweet, heady, and intense and the flowers are borne throughout the warmer months of the year. Large thick glossy green foliage adorns this upright to arching tropical shrub. Easy indoors or out. Item# 10053

An exceptionally free flowering passionvine, Lady Lavender produces 3-4" wide, lightly fragrant flowers with purple sepals and petals that fade to near white near their base. The flowers are topped by a corona of blue filaments that fade to white and then darken to deep burgundy at their base. Lady Lavender Passionflower is a sterile Patrick Worley cultivar considered to be hardy to near 10oF. It is large and vigorous enough to cover a medium to large trellis easily in one season or it can be enjoyed as a container plant where not hardy. Huge clusters of 1-1/2" tubular yellow flowers are borne profusely throughout summer and fall on this vigorous shrub-like perennial and attract hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators. The flowers are sweetly fragrant at night and likely attract hummingbird moths. Lemon Zest Cestrum becomes large and shrub like in mild winter climates whereas in the coldest portions of its range, like zone 8B, it will often freeze to the ground and return in spring. A loose breathable mulch will also help to ensure that your Cestrum returns each spring. If you have purchased Orange or Yellow Cestrum from us in the past it is the cultivar Orange Zest. Deep violet flowers with a white eye hang like grapes from this upright to arching, deciduous to semi-evergreen shrub. The flowers of Lindley's Butterfly Bush, Buddleja lindleyana, are produced nearly continuously from late spring to fall and attract a variety of pollinators including hummingbirds, butterflies, and larger bees. This is a naturally suckering shrub and will slowly develop into a mass that can be utilized as an informal hedge or at the back of the border. Much like our old favorite the Butterfly Ginger but with much larger (like the size of a Luna Moth) white fragrant flowers that are borne from early summer to fall on shorter sturdier stems to 3-4'H and large lush tropical foliage. An excellent cut flower whose fragrance can fill a room. Multiplies readily but not uncontrollably. Item# 9775.

Masses of primrose yellow, 1" long trumpets herald the coming of spring and have a strong Jasmine-like fragrance that is produced in early evening and at night suggesting that they are pollinated by hummingbird or sphinx moths as well as by native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. *It is not a suitable nectar plant for honeybees. Margarita Carolina Yellow Jessamine, with larger flowers, more flowers, and improved cold hardiness over the species surviving -25^oF at North Creek Nurseries in Landenberg, PA. This a native, twining, evergreen to semi-evergreen vine with glossy, dark green, narrow foliage that can climb up to 20' high but is just as happy on a 6' fence or other sturdy support. The species, Gelsemium sempervirens, is native to the southeastern US, but, Margarita was selected by Don Jacobs of Eco Gardens in Decatur, Georgia. Provide Carolina Yellow Jasmine with a full sun to mostly sunny site in an average to well-drained, fertile soil for optimum growth and to maximize flowering. Although, it is shade tolerant it doesn't flower as profusely. Tough and easy as well as drought, deer, and rabbit resistant. Act I begins in mid to late spring with the plants nearly covering up in fragrant, 2" wide, starry single flowers and is followed by periodic flowering in summer with a fall finale similar to the spring show. Martha Turnbull Gardenia is a wonderfully free-flowering Gardenia that was selected by Greg Grant from seed collected from Rosedown Plantation and named in honor of the garden's owner and horticulturist Martha Turnbull. Cross-pollinated flowers will produce bright orange hips to provide winter interest. Provide this easy shrub with a full sun to partly shaded site in an average moist, richly fertile, acidic soil for optimum vigor and flowering. Item# 9867

A White Butterfly Ginger on steroids! The spike-like clusters produce 4" wide, fragrant, butterfly-shaped white flowers with a creamy heart in late summer and into fall atop large sturdy upright stems with large tropical-looking rich green foliage. The Maximum Giant White Butterfly Ginger, likely a tetraploid or hybrid of Hedychium coronarium, has some of the largest stems, flowers, and (up to 2" diameter) rhizomes of any Hedychium we have grown to date! A naturally evergreen, rhizomatous slowly multiplying tropical, it acts like a die-back perennial in areas where freezes occur, reliably returning in zones 7B to 10. The Hedychium Gingers typically grow and flower best where they receive at least some direct sunlight for 3-4 hours during the day and generally have the best looking foliage where they receive shade during the heat of the day. A planting on the east facing side of a house, tree or other structure where they receive morning sun is often optimum. Provide an average moist to moist, average to well-drained, moderately fertile soil to keep this easy and reliable heirloom growing and flowering. Item# 13184

Large clusters of lightly fragrant very pale-blue flowers, that appear white from any distance, are produced in early spring and are held well above the deep dark green foliage. May Breeze Phlox was selected by renown Netherland landscape architect Piet Oudolf for its vigor and near white coloration. This Woodland Phlox  is an excellent choice for lightly to partially shaded gardens, as a groundcover under deciduous trees. Provide shade during the hottest portion of the day in hot summer climates and a well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Easy and reliable once established. The deep maroon foliage provides a contrasting foil for the ball-like clusters of 2" long, tubular light pink flowers whose nectar and pollen attract a variety of pollinators like hummingbirds, larger butterflies, and long-tongued bees. Midnight Oil Eastern Beebalm, a selection of Monarda bradburiana, is a many stemmed, clump-forming to slowly spreading, upright growing, native, herbaceous perennial selected for its unique, dark and mysterious foliage. This species is noted for its earlier flowering, excellent disease resistance, a naturally shorter 18-24" high habit, drought resistance as compared to other species of Monarda, and tolerance for thinner, poorer, and/or gravelly soils. Plants may lose foliage when drought stressed so average moisture is generally preferred under garden conditions.
