Spreading habit (1/14/2024)
Your description says to deadhead after flowering to prevent excessive seed spread. However retaining the seed heads is the reason to grow this plant.
Please explain how invasive this plant is in zone 3

Thank you for your question and we have updated this entry to include the following: *Deadheading: In unmulched beds, if you are concerned about unwanted seedlings consider deadheading after flowering and before seeds begin to drop naturally, or dehisce. As this species is from a firebased ecology, seeds typically need exposed soil to germinate in any quantity and like, most perennial clump-forming North American native grasses, if it were to germinate it should be easily eradicated by hand pulling or other selective means.
