Loads of small, perfectly formed, fully double, rich pink flowers are produced over an extended period beginning in November and continuing as late as May. Pink Perfection Camellia is an heirloom, Large Flowered Japonica type with a vigorous and a dense branching, initially upright habit eventually developing into a large evergreen shrub that becomes rounded with age. Like most Camellias, Pink Perfection grows to about 10' high and 6-8' feet wide. For optimum growth and vigor provide Camellias with a fertile soil rich in organic matter, with average moisture, and an organic mulch. Small to medium-sized, 3-4" wide, perfect or rose form, bright pink flowers are produced late in the season, March to April, which is unusual for a Sasanqua. Pink Princess Sasanqua Camellia is vigorous growing, large evergreen shrub with an initially upright habit and medium textured, deep green, glossy foliage. It should make a good choice for a hedge, screen, or specimen plant. The Sasanqua Camellias are much more tolerant of growing conditions than standard Japonica Camellias and can tolerate less than perfect soils and full sun to light shade conditions. The extra large (for a Phlox) rich pink 1-1/4" wide flowers are centered by a contrasting dark purplish-red eye which is in turn surrounded by a narrow white halo all atop a dense groundcovering mound of rich green foliage. Large often pyramidal sprays of small rose colored flowers are produced from spring to fall on mature plants and are held against a foil of medium green heart-shaped foliage. The flowers are in constant use by honeybees and occasionally by butterflies. The Rosa Montana or Coral Vine, Antigonon leptopus, is a tendriled, tuberous tropical vine that is evergreen in frost free regions but acts like a die-back perennial in areas that experience freezing temperatures returning from the tubers in spring. As a perennial vine, it typically remains in the 8-15' range but can exceed 40' high in tropical regions. Provide a full sun to mostly sunny site in a well-drained, average moist, fertile soil for optimum growth and flowering. Easy to grow with moderate drought resistant once well-established, though this may reduce growth and flowering. In areas where hard freezes occur, plant out early in the growing season and no later than by midsummer to help insure winter survival. Item# 825

In late winter and early spring very double dainty white flowers often with a greenish eye are produced in profusion along the bare arching stems of this heirloom favorite. Bridal Wreath Spirea, or as we learned it Popcorn Spirea, develops into a medium to large deciduous shrub with a naturally arching and fountaining habit often accentuated by the weight of the numerous flowers. The somewhat fine-textured simple foliage is glossy and appears smooth edged at a glance although it is very finely toothed, unlike the bluish-green, matte finished, rhomboid shaped dentate foliage of the more commonly grown Reeve's Spirea (which is also commonly and confusingly called Bridal Wreath or Bridal Wreath Spirea) and develops good fall color in shades of red, orange, and into purple tones. This a very easy and strong-growing, perennial vine with beautiful glossy leaves, exotic white and purple flowers, which are followed by large purple, rounded fruit, about the size of tangerines, with a nice flavor. The 2-4' high, sturdy, dense spikes of rich purple, rarely white, flowers of this beautiful native wildflower attract loads of butterflies, a host of native bees, and numerous other garden beneficials in summer. Liatris is considered to be in the top three in importance for native summer pollinator plants by some ecologists. Prairie Blazing Star, Liatris pycnostachya, is a cormous, native perennial with narrow foliage that ranges from deep green to grayish and individual corms produce more and more flowering stems as they age. This is an easily grown perennial that is adaptable to average moist to wet to periodically dry-ish soils, including clay and sandy loams. Considered one of the top two species for gardens by Liberty Hyde Bailey and makes an easy and low maintenance addition to the garden or landscape. The flower spikes also make excellent long-lasting cut flowers whether used fresh or dried and appear to be unbothered by deer, rabbits, or other browsers. Clusters of 2" wide primrose yellow fragrant 4-petalled flowers are produced in mid to late spring into early summer atop the low growing spreading stems adorned with deep green fuzzy foliage of this native perennial wildflower. Prairie Sundrops, a.k.a. Meadow Evening Primrose, is a dayflowering species of Evening Primrose with a low somewhat bushy habit and it does spread somewhat by rhizomes which is great for naturalistic settings like meadows, prairies and roadside plantings and it is reportedly relatively easy to control in garden settings as well. An adaptable native perennial that is tolerant of wet to dry soils including clay but it seems to prefer an acidic pH. The flowers attract butterflies and larger native bees. Item# 11662

2-3" long, medium pink, slightly flaring tubular flowers are produced in large hanging clusters designed for hummingbird pollination. An unusual color in Iochromas, Pretty in Pink is a prolific flowering selection on a vigorous growing upright to spreading, naturally evergreen tropical shrub. This miniature cousin of the Angel's Trumpet is easily enjoyed as a container plant where not hardy. Provide good drainage and fertile, average moist soil in partial to filtered sun for the best results.  8-14" high pyramidal clusters of up to 40 pinkish-red ball-like buds open to yellow butterfly-like blooms, then fade to a deep orange and gold, and finally turning to a deep reddish-orange to red. The Pride of Barbados, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, is a large growing tropical to subtropical shrub to tender shrub-like perennial that makes a fantastic show throughout summer. Give it plenty of room and a well-drained, moderately fertile soil, preferably in full to mostly sunny site. Plant with caution as butterflies and hummingbirds will repeatedly attack the flowers. Fully double, bright raspberry pink, 3-4" flowers are borne atop the dark green foliage. A vigorous, free-flowering, and upright growing Hibiscus, Pride of Hankins lends itself to pruning and shaping.
